"The Plame Rove Affair is One of the Biggest Wastes of Time of My Lifetime..."

I'm just browsing around the blogs this morning, and I see Roger L. Simon is saying exactly what I'm thinking.

But look on the bright side. A story like that filling the news signifies the absence of a bigger story to wipe if off the front page. How well I remember the summer we couldn't stop talking about Chandra Levy and Gary Condit.

ADDED: But there is something shameful about the way the London bombings have not fully engaged our attention. And, yes, I do realize that promoters of the Plame-Rove story will say it's all so connected.

Yes, you have to keep in mind that this is the middle of the summer and that nothing much is really happening, outside of this scandal, and well..
- bombings in London
- WoT in Afghanistan and Iraq, with our troops dying, while a lot of good stuff is happening too.

That said, just remember that this is the middle of the summer, and this sort of thing happens many years in which we don't have a presidential election going on then. So, sit back and enjoy.

It's a disgraceful display from the Democrats and their allies in the media. But knowing Judith Miller's in jail kind of makes it all worth it, no?

After all it was the liberal media who made this non-story an issue. Now, they're cooking in their own stew.

And it sure beats Aruba 24/7!

Karl over Aruba any day

But I must say, such a clever lad, our Karl! Letting it all play out like this, sapping a bit of the Dem's collective energy given their PP (penchant or principle) dispositions and ability to come up with guns that don't smoke for the Public to cluck their tongues over. It appears that he won't be sending Godiva chocolates by the gross to poor Judith as she languishes in the joint after all. You da' man, Karl! And didn't he look every bit the toadie the other day trotting behind George for all the cameras to see? You could just tell W. wanted to reach over and tussle the bit of hair Karl has left.

Kathleen: I could pick through the points of the tiny scandalette, but others have already done it. Obviously, I'm richly unimpressed by the rantings of the Rove-haters who are swarming and trying to bring him down. You ought to count it as moderate that I'm not ranting against those people, and if you don't, I'm guessing that you've got your heart set on a Rove downfall..

Where's the evidence?

Kathleen B.

Typically on a blog with some connection to the law (like a law professor might host, for example), invective, name calling, and other similar emotional rants do not count for much and do not impress or edify the reading audience.

Evidence and persuasive appeals to logic and reason are generally more effective. To the extent you are a regular reader, I am pretty sure you have noticed that here.

In that sprit, could you enlighten us as to your view of the evidence that supports the proposition that Mr. Rove disclosed to anyone either Ms. Plame's status as an undercover agent of the CIA or any details of her role in any clandestine overseas operations? So far, amid all of the sound, fury and political posturing, I haven't detected any such evidence.

If you can direct me to any credible evidence to that effect, I am sure I would be as outraged with Mr. Rove as you appear to be.

I am shocked, deeply disappointed, and truly sorry that you don't agree with me on every issue.

And that goes for all the rest of you commentors, too.

I don't know Kathleen... You're good at getting real personal but not coming up with any evidence.

What did Rove do? Why is Ann wrong? Facts please.

I fail to see how it is such a waste of time. I vaguely recall a couple of non-scandals during the Clinton presidency that dominated the news for weeks (Travelgate) or years (Whitewater.)

Whitewater, hands down, is the biggest waste of time in my lifetime. The David Hasslehoff vehicle "Bail Out" is a close second.

Terrence: I don't get it. This isn't a waste of time because something else was a waste of time?

Mmmmmmm. Kool-aid.

Everyone be sure to set your VRWC decoder rings to the new frequency that Commander Turd Blossom sent out.

Oooh, Ann... Have you registered that logic as a lethal weapon? Because Terrence is on his knees now wondering where he's bleeding from.

Dirty Harry - you come by your nickname honestly.

Ann - No, this is still a waste of time, but only because the White House didn't come clean in the first place. I'm not saying anybody did anything criminal, I'm just saying they could have quashed this in the spring of 2004 if they'd wanted to do so.

The Whitewater ordeal was a much bigger waste of time than this Karl Rove story, because it laster for a longer time chronologically, and also because it dominated the news to a much larger extent than the Plame affair ever has.

If the Plame/Rove/Novak thing is still in the news next year at this time, then we'll talk.
