"Why do so many Senators persist during judicial confirmation hearings in making speeches rather than asking questions?"

Asks Power Line.

Why does the rain fall from up above?

Well anyone who ever had a kid remembers the days when they were little and all you heard was:

"Mom!! Dad!! Look! Look! Watch me...you're not looking!! Watch me! Watch me! Look at meeeeeeeeee!"

That's pretty much the same maturity level what inhabits that 'august body' known as the US Senate.

It is kind of funny that Power Line assumes there is a difference between ham actors and Senators.

They are all Beauty Pageant contestants in the political soap opera business. They need to talk on camera to do their jobs. Remember that we have the worst system of government, except for all the others.

I didn't notice it, so it can't have been that intrusive. The blog post mentioned only Graham's steady stream of questions interspersed with a few isolated statements.

Good thing these senators aren't narcissists like that dangerous lunatic Sarah Palin.

Just be glad Joe Biden's not on the committee anymore.

During his Q&A time, he'd make another 20 minute speech

Did they make long speeches before the hearings were televised?

In any case, I bet it starts to backfire on them.

Even more amazing is that the only people they impress are each other and even that's questionable.
