"Lessons From Wisconsin: What happens when you take on the public sector unions and win? You get a better state."

An interview with Wisconsin Lieutenant Governor Rebecca Kleefisch, who's impressively articulate. I was watching this video with Meade, and he said: "That's the next Governor of Wisconsin."

Oh, what will we ever do if a woman is Governor?

She is smarter than the average Grizzly bear.

Now all we need is someone in DC who understands this concept.

If she wants to be Governor. She may not.

I think she did a splendid job on the interview. Very non-threatening... which was right for the occasion. Since that's the only thing I've got to go by, I don't know if it's her normal demeanor.

Here's another interview - in response to being mocked for having colon cancer and sexist comments made by Madison radio jockey John "Sly" Sylvester.

First of all, fire the cameraman! You do not pose a woman who is going to have a political future in an EMPTY restaurant. With table linens on the floor ... to say "WISCONSIN HAS ADDED JOBS!"

The background is all wrong.

And, then, the supbject is the RECALL ELECTIONS. There are 6 Wisconsin Senators FIGHTING TO KEEP THEIR JOBS!

That's important! This 7 minute video? Are you trying to kid me? This ain't the Miss America contest! If this is serious business ...

Fire the cameraman! And, then, don't have a lightweight discussion between two women who just got their hair done.

Let's hope the 6 republican candidates win next week. THEN you can begin talking about Wisconsin's leadership ... in spite of what the left does.

Oh, yeah. If it was Reagan, he'd have looked directly into the camera. And, he'd have had an American flag behind him.

He would not have been in an empty restaurant bragging about employing lots of people.

But that's just my opinion.

He just meant to demean her. Success!

Actually, he sort of looks like a Glenn Beck wannabe. Figures "hey that sells" without understanding what it is that sells.

Does Sly "sell" in Wisconsin?

Countdown until the first lefty, sexist smear.........

...is long over:

"In a red suit that screamed "Look at me, fuckers" Lieutenant Governor Rebecca Kleefisch worked the Republican side of the assembly like a brothel's madam. From the way she bawdily glad-handed among the Republican leadership, it was clear that Kleefisch, a former TV news reporter renowned for refusing to debate her opponent during the 2010 election, thinks she is somehow important to the GOP's goals in Wisconsin. She thinks she's a player. It's adorable."

Naturally garage would think she's teh evil. Remember she drives a minivan with current re-sale value about $4K. Truly the epitome of absolute EVIL.

It is amusing that Althouse has set this up like Kleefisch is unknown. Any criticism then will necessarily appear to be "knee jerk" and sexist. I sit back and wait to see who takes the bait.

Synova said...

Any criticism sexist? Really?

Was what Paul quoted sexist, or merely critical?

Sly seemed to be having a meltdown because she was promoting Wisconsin to businesses in Illinois. Isn't that her job? He figured that it made him sound extra smart to be an ass and then explain that, well, the only element that might make Wisconsin attractive to businesses was the tax rate, thus she's a dummy and deserved it.

The person Paul quoted calls her adorable for pretending that she's anyone at all because she's promoting her State. Even if she's ineffective, it *is* her job, isn't it? Get back to the kitchen!

Anyone is open to criticism, but it has to actually, you know, contain *criticism*.

Carol Herman, the interview was conducted at the Smart Girl Politics Summit in St. Louis, MO, not a restaurant in Wisconsin. The interviewer mentioned the location in her intro. The Summit is being held this weekend at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in downtown St. Louis, so I assumed the background was probably a restaurant at the hotel during a time when related events were going on, which would explain why the restaurant was unpopulated.

Kleefisch has a fear of people marrying furniture. There is always some weird hangup being a conservative. But Althouse thinks that is a impressive trait I'm sure. She is a Press Secretary for Scott Walker's Office, afterall.

Carol_Herman said...

ajcjw @ 7:51 PM. And, I know what an empty restaurant looks like! It has tables and chairs. This one has placemats. With a stack of white linens on one of the chairs. Draping to the floor. It does not shout out YUM!

To the countrary. Walking into such a place. And, seeing no one seated. Would make most people turn around and walk out.

Now. With a name like "Kleefisch" ... Or Kligerfisher. Or whatever. Just makes you wonder how ugly is the man she married? And, why didn't she hold out to keep her own name.

Kloppenhoppen also had a moniker problem.

Perhaps women don't notice this?

Besides, this idea of women in politics is not new. Back in the days when women stayed home. And, hired maids. They'd go out ... wearing suits, stockings and heels. And, they'd meet.

Nancy Reagan did this a lot.

Picture Nancy Reagan.

This is not new stuff to women! And, yes. It could be done better.

But if Wisconsin voters, after Walker, replace him with her? There will have been a political shift in the State of Wisconsin. And, be Russ Feingold will be so HA. HA. HA.

Synova said...

"Kleefisch has a fear of people marrying furniture. There is always some weird hangup being a conservative."

If cold calling businesses in Illinois and selling them on Wisconsin stability despite still-higher taxes works at all... no one is going to care if she's afraid of furniture.

And if Union goons get developmentally delayed adults fired from their subsidized jobs, people just won't not-care about the furniture, they'll start to wonder if she was right about that *too*.

By all means, list the names of all the Lt. Gov.

I didn't know who she is.

Synova said...

I thought that the only problem with the video was that half her face was in shadow. Someone should have noticed and had them turn out toward the middle of the room. It was actually quite annoying. The emptiness of the room is a non-issue. No doubt they were looking for someplace quiet enough that the sound would work.

Do you think her minivan is worth only $2500 because it is teal?

Is CEO Magazine's survey a well-known and reliable metric for state success, and how does that help the kids who ride in the teal minivan? (Or maybe they ride in one of those Yukons with a driver; I don't know for sure.)

Interesting way to "couch" your political views. I take it then that personal beliefs about gay marriage is your litmus test for fitness for political office?

BTW - the important question is, is she white?

Depressing.

Pols concerned about desk marriage and the like historically have been rare. Now they're just Republican.

She just sounds concerned about workers becoming "chained to their desks." You can relate to that, right?

Cut workers wages by 18% and of course a budget will look better...that's just common sense.

But it is a little soon to say if the changes really do make Wisconsin a "better state" or not. Unless, of course, the ONLY criteria for being a good state is how low you pay your workers. If that is the case, then perhaps we should start using state prisoners to teach our kids; don't have to even pay MinWage for those workers.

No workers wages were cut of course. And the teachers union wouldn't care if we used state prisoners as long as dues were automatically paid and WEA Trust insurance was used.

purplepenquin said...

When you saw on the TV News that wages weren't cut for workers in Wisconsin, were they showing palm trees around the State Capitol?

Fen said...

Purple: When you saw on the TV News that wages weren't cut for workers in Wisconsin, were they showing palm trees around the State Capitol?

No, they had a subtitle that said "across the nation". When they shifted back to Madison, the subtitle changed to "Madison, WI".

I bet you were too stupid to see that, so now you simply parrot the libtard bullshit you swallowed.

Libtards. They really are this stupid.

Alex said...

Hey purple, if Scott Walker thinks an outside security firm does a better job, why not? Who are you to question?

purplepenquin said...

:D

purplepenquin said...

Fen -

I just looked again and saw no subtitles that said "Madison WI" nor "Across the Nation" in O'Reilly segment that showed palm trees in the background while they were discussing the events occurring in Madison. Can you tell me at which minute/second you see them appear?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RClJ6vK9x_4

Please, no need for namecalling or personal attacks ...just point me to where you see those subtitles appear in the clip. Thanks!

Fen said...

"Madison WI" nor "Across the Nation"

It was "Madison WI" and "Union Protests" (across the nation)

Please, no need for namecalling or personal attacks ...just point me to where you see those subtitles appear in the clip. Thanks

Sure. Instead of relying on an edited propaganda clip on youtube, go to the original source:

http://www.foxnews.com/on-air/oreilly/index.html#/v/4563626/whats-behind-the-anger-in-wisconsin/?playlist_id=86923

Watch the ENTIRE clip (its only 5 mins) and you'll see how you were deceived into repeating nonsense.

And we covered this teapot tempest on Althouse back then:

http://althouse.blogspot.com/2011/03/wisconsin-protesters-are-losing-their.html

This sums it up nicely, at 11:36AM

And if you had watched the original clip which I linked to above, you would have seen them use that exact sequence of clips from other places when they were talking about violence in protests around the country. When talking with the reporter in Madison, they use live feed of Madison for a bit, and then go back to the general "Union Protests" clip montage. When you see the entire interview in its original context, there is nothing nefarious about it.

Fen said...

And sorry you have to wade through Blowhard O'Reilly on this. I can't stand him either.

But the little Palm Tree "gotcha" is lame.

purplepenquin said...

Even in the longer segment, they are still talking about the Union Protests in Wisconsin when they show the palm trees in the background. Ain't nobody deceiving me about it; I can see for myself that the subtitle doesn't say "Across the Nation" as you claimed it did. I can hear for myself the two men talking about the protests in Madison (not across the nation) when they show the shoving match in front of the palm trees.

That subtitle (Across the Nation) that you called me a stupid libtard for not seeing when they cut to the the shoving match doesn't appear anywhere at all...even in the longer segment. Whoever told you it did say that was flat-out lying, and you really should have looked at the clip yourself before going off half-cocked.

*tips hat*

Glad I could help set the record straight for ya...

Fen said...

No. They are not. They are talking about the unions protesting across the nation in solidarity with Wisconsin protestors when the show the palm trees (Sacramento).

When they shift back to video of the wisconsin protests, the subtitle clearly says "Madison, WI".

If you're confused, please provide the timestamps that reference the segment you find deceptive.

That subtitle (Across the Nation) that you called me a stupid libtard for not seeing when they cut to the the shoving match doesn't appear anywhere at all

The subtitle is "Union Protests" not "across America". Look again.

Your accusation is silly.

No wages were cut. This 100% bullshit, just like your Scott Walker uses mercenaries from a Dutch company crap. And this "palm tree" stuff is more lib idiocy.

Please do yo uhave anything but these lies?

purplepenquin said...

I can hear Bill O'Reilly talking about the Union Protests in Madison WI at the very moment the palm trees appear in the background, but I don't see the subtitle that says the footage is from someplace other than Madison.

Like I asked before, tell me the actual timestamp where the subtitle says "Across the Nation" that you said I was too stupid to see. 'cause I still don't see it anywhere...even in the extended clip you provided.

Pretty simple request - you said it is there, so where is it?

PS to George - Workers are taking home less money now due to the actions of the WiGOP. Sure sounds like a wage cut to me...what do you call it?

Curious George said...

"PS to George - Workers are taking home less money now due to the actions of the WiGOP. Sure sounds like a wage cut to me...what do you call it?"

I call it paying for part of their benefits. Which is what it actually is. Nothing at all to do with wages.

So now that we have dispensed with one lie, let's refocus on a second, that Walker has hired mercenaries from a Dutch firm.

100% bullshit

purplepenquin said...

If it truly has nothing to do with their wages, then where is the mandatory deduction coming from?

And like I said before, it is actually a British/Danish company that Walker has contracted with to provide some of his security. Your response seems to indicate that you not only don't beleive he has contracted with the company, but there isn't even a company like that in existance!

Either that or you are constantly using the phrase "100%" with no idea of that it means...which is it?

Curious George said...

From their wages. Which haven't changed. Which is what you claimed. Are you a compulsive liar or an idiot?

I know the firm exists. What is 100% bullshit is that Walker has contracted with them for "mercenaries" for "personal security". Walker's personal security is provided by WI STate Police.
