"Now videogamers can play the role of Ho Chi Minh's communist forces as they rout French colonists in a blood-spattered shoot'em-up."

"We in Vietnam aren't that familiar with World War II but we still enjoy the 'Call of Duty' games... Anybody can enjoy any game, as long as it's fun and rewarding."

Oh, joy!

Let me know how much blood there is when the Viet Minh walks into the village and disembowels the chief for not joining Uncle HoHoHo's noble cause.

Not one I'll buy...

I know how the game ends.

I don't care for the subject matter of this particular game, but it is cheering to see other nations' computer game industries starting to take off. The more the merrier.

Please explain why this is noteworthy. Every time I sit down for a nice FPS match or two, I'm playing either the Russian Union or the US. Aside from some slight differences in the weapons and where you start on the match at the beginning of the match, it doesn't matter a whip.

I'm sure there will be a 1967 Tet add on pack so all the leftwing moonbats here can relive the battle where Cronkite said the war was lost.

Only to a moonbat could turn the crushing defeat of the Viet Cong into a victory.

For what it's worth, shooters based in Vietnam have been really terrible to date.

Maybe this one won't suck...but I'm not optimistic.

Sick.

And not in the contemporary sense meaning "wonderful."

For some reason (probably a personal failing) I find it difficult to be upset when entertainment in foreign countries portrays that country or its people as the Good Guys.

I don't even mind, usually, when the US is portrayed as the Bad Guys.

Things are only severely out of balance when people in a country insist on portraying *themselves* as the Bad Guys in their entertainment.

Does the gamer get to fly the last helicopter out of Saigon?

The Bad Company 2 Vietnam add-on wasn't bad. Excellent map design, but very little in the way of gear choices.

No. the whole of the TET Offensive where the Viet Cong and the NVA shot their bolt and but for Mcnamara and CBS news the US troops and the S. Vietnamese army could have walked into Hanoi.

Rusty?

what do you think I said about Tet?

BTW: Tet occurs every year if course, but the Tet Offensive was in 68, not 67.

Rusty said...

Nothing, sarge.
I just think the TET Offensive would have made a better game.
