D'Souza resigns from the presidency of King's College over the issue of having a fiancée before his divorce is final.

Weird. Did they drum him out of there or is he better off without them?
According to several sources at the college, members of the King’s faculty and board alike had grown hostile to D’Souza’s presidency over what they saw as a failure to earn his reported million-dollar salary. D’Souza has spent much of the past few months promoting his documentary, 2016: Obama’s America, and his high profile in the media was seen as rarely benefitting the college.
Embarrassing divorces. Does anyone really care? Didn't they mostly only want his name? If so, if the name stopped meaning what they wanted it to mean, it's time to cut off the million-dollar salary. Move on.

This is not about a messy divorce. He is a moral scold who has argued that the Abu Ghraib torture and prisoner abuse scandal was a result of “the sexual immodesty of liberal America”. He's a big "family values" guy that finds it useful to bash gays. If you are fundamentally dishonest & deceitful in your most important personal relationship it takes a fair amount of chutzpah to lecture others on morality. I don't care what he does in his personal life but he's in no position to judge others, which has been his life's work.

I guess at Kings College you really have to walk the talk.

I only know his name because of the anti-Obama film he made so it's safe to assume this some sort of payback.

What did D'Souza say that was "dishonest and deceitful"? He introduced the woman as his fiancee, not his wife.

Given that they were engaged to be married, would it not have been deceitful to NOT introduce her as such?

Has anyone heard from America's Politico lately? He always has an interesting take on these things.

Evangelicals do. It's his "extracurricular activities", "shared a hotel room at a Christian conference".

I'd like to read more on that. Have you got a link handy?

If you believe that King's College is doing the bidding of the Obama campaign, you just might believe that Romney can balance the budget while increasing defense spending, lowering taxes, and preserving Medicare.

Maybe they would if he were running for President. Is he? Evangelicals didn't form a bad opinion about Obama nor a good opinion about Romney from a movie.

Only liberals get bent out of shape about movies and try to bash filmmakers.

Why don't you guys try that Planet Kolob stuff again?

Further, he says, it's saying that the rules of the adult world are cruel and meaningless but must be obeyed.

Hmmm,

The guy was in the process of a divorce.

Not like he was running around on his wife.

I get the principle, but I think they're pushing it.

Normally, I would say no, this isn't something you fire someone over.

But it's Kings College. They kind of have a strong POV of these kinds of things.

I think Abu Ghraib was vastly over hyped (30 days in a row on the front page of the NYT), and I don't know exactly what D'Souza said about it, but I think that explanation is at least partially accurate. Those soldiers sure were not acting sexually modest, and I don't think they learned it over there. Of course, sexual immodesty is far preferable to what the enemy engages in, but those soldiers were representing us.

Chick he wrote an entire book about fundy muzzies and american evangelicals getting together to fight the secular freaks in the U.S. I believe most conservatives panned it big time.

He's a brownie too and he is taking some of our hot white women. He likes em blonde.

I love brown but would not do him, not because what he writes or anything because I don't really give a shit about that. But because he is not hot. You have to be hot. Hot gets hot. Unless you are rich though, then you get hot too.

I got hot and rich. I'm major caste bitch now.

Indian men and women give me crusties when they see me with my upper "crust" lightly skinned Indian. It's the fag thing and then double the light skinned rich hindi and it produces evil looks....and I love it.

Do you know my husband told me that Indians can tell by looking at other Indians when they are high caste?

I am like get over Sanjay and Sunita.

OMG, Ethel is on HBO tonight. So exciting!

Source article updated:

Editor's Note: This story originally reported that D'Souza's salary was rumored to be $1 million. According to the most recent IRS filings by The King's College, D'Souza received $194,638 in reportable compensation between August 16, 2010 and Aug. 31, 2011, and an estimated additional compensation of $6,886. The reference to the rumored salary has been removed.

D'Souza is also *of* my exact contemporary (OK, he's something like 6 weeks younger). In my college years, which exactly mirror his, I became aware of him in real time due to his involvement in starting an alternative student newspaper. At that time, it was rather a startling thing, and if you don't believe me, you can look it up (though it might take a trip to a dusty, musty old library).

Laura Ingraham has ended up being much more honest, not to mention more strenuous, than he, IMO, FWIW. Even though he retreated into so-called academia, and she just went out there into derided media.

It's a stitch, or two, for sure.

Yeah, "values voters"* tend to be pretty well versed in the idea that people are morally flawed and in need of a savior, but thanks for the attempt at insight.

"Every one of the paragons of virtue they worship"

Conservatives know that all men are fallen. Worship is placed elsewhere, therein lies redemption.

While we might cheer someone on, we know ultimately that everyone is a sinner.

The cult of personality, in contrast, is a repeated failing of the left. Mao, Stalin, Hitler, Castro, Chavez, Che, and Obama.

I came back to post a second comment here after being away for literally years because the way Queen Ann has characterized this D'Souza event is completely misleading.

Kings College is an evangelical Christian College. D'Souza was the president. He was married. He took his girlfriend with him to a religious conference, They stayed in the same room while he was still married... as president of a very conservative Christian college.

You'd never know that from Queen Ann's characterization of the event. This is why I stopped coming here. It's just story after story of misleading story completely characterized in completely inaccurate ways. We all bow to Queen Ann, Lord High Priestess of Truth, albeit her own special subjective truth. This is the new conservative. Like what you see?

KCFleming said...

"He took his girlfriend with him to a religious conference, They stayed in the same room while he was still married."

Not proven. Wouldn't doubt it happened though.

Are you as concerned with Obama's reputed ties to a Chicago gay sex club?

Unknown said...

The real question is what particular type of bimbo would get ingaged to a married man or, for that matter, bed down with him before the divorce?

D'Souza may well be a rat of a husband and man, but his choice in women is certainly under question.

Titus said...

I am definitely more concerned and interested about Obama going to a gay club.

Titus said...

The saddest part of this story is he makes a decent amount of money and actually took the woman to a Comfort Inn Suites. That's just wrong.

Paddy O said...

"You'd never know that from Queen Ann's characterization of the event."

Or D'Souza's. Your characterization is from World Magazine, which D'Souza asserts has a personal problem with him, as both its editor and the specific reporter had been affected by his overall leadship.

So, it's fine to assert Althouse's supposed bias, but not by seeing what seems to be at the very least a suspect version of the events as somehow being beyond reproach.

You're certainly not on a moral high ground, Prince Willy.
