"We strapped the President into an airplane that was heading to the ground at Mach speed..."

Colorado Senator Mark Udall indulged in a bit of hyperbole (and metaphor) — Fox News Sunday this morning — to describe where Obama found himself at the point of inauguration.

President Romney will be inheriting a mess. However, he has some class, so he won't be harping on it all the time.

Poor guy! It's so hard being President.

The first black president should have gotten a better deal.

How unfair! It's unfair, I tell you!

I'd like to do better than this, but the Old Dawgz gig ended late, and Big Joe insisted on stopping at the White Castle for sliders after the gig. Got home at 2:30 a.m.! Jesus, but the women were hot!

Paddy O said...

Maybe he shouldn't have volunteered to be a test pilot.

exhelodrvr1 said...

And instead of pulling the aircraft out of the dive, the President is pulling the handle for the ejection seat.

Mark O said...

It was so unfair of you to elect him. He really didn't expect it, and you know that is true.

It would be better said that he jumped in the airplane and hit the accelerator.

After all, he's just not that smart.

"we strapped the president into an airplane that was heading to the ground at Mach speed..."

...and then we realized: hey, does this guy even know how to fly? I mean, has he ever flown anything other than a kite in his life?

Wait, wasn't that other candidate an actual pilot?

Oh, shit.

Astro said...

Democrats conveniently forget that they controlled both houses of congress during Bush's last 2 years in office -- the 2 years when the deficit (surprisingly) started to grow and the economy started to contract.

Yeah, I know, shocker that they'd forget this.

Pastafarian said...

MarkO, he was just digging his way out of the hole.

pauldar said...

Then the time ran out on his quarter and he had to borrow 16 Trillion to play some more.

Paddy O said...

Personally, though, I'm more than happy to help him out of that plane.

Why should America be so cruel as to keep him to a plane that is now that much closer to the ground.

IOW, if you're thinking of voting for Romney (gasp!) you need to vote for Our Dear Leader because you feel sorry for him.

Affirmative Action in action.

If he were competent in manipulating the MSM cover-up parachute he would have cruised around, enjoyed the view and descended for a Baumgartenesque landing.

Obviously shits happened, and some, like the death of an ambassador not optimal bump in the road shits, do happen. Only hope the MSM parachute is big enough to cover up the stink.

Ship of state, used to be the metaphor, but ships are slow and there's usually time to steer away from reefs, icebergs and the like.

Look for flying saucers, in the future.

ricpic said...

Couldn't we strap him on a rocket to the moon, Alice?!

caplight45 said...

Well, unicorns can fly so it was only natural that he assumed that he would mount his magic steed and take off. Reality can be such a bite in the rear.

NotWhoIUsedtoBe said...

Then why did the President want to be the pilot?

Excuses, excuses.

Nathan Alexander said...

@astro,
Forget that they controlled both houses of congress after the 2006 election?

They actively concealed it!

I am fond of making the point that Senator Obama voted for all the policies that created the economy he claimed he inherited...the very economy he campaigned on being the best person to fix.

And we found out, he is NO Felix Baumgartner.

If Obama had had one iota of an ounce of the character of a Thomas Sowell, we would all have been not only pleasantly surprised, but we'd be voting for him again, regardless of party.

He never had even that iota. He is not a great man. He's not even a good one.

And when you stack his life achievements against Romney's achievements, it's not wonder he hates Romney, who is everything he is not.

Please, God, let people do the right thing this election, let them set aside their partisanship and vote this disaster into the history bin.

The Secret Service should interview him for using such extreme rhetoric. Sure, he's suppprting the president, but you simply cannot use those words! It's uncivil! It conjures up violent images and degrades our politics! It's damn near eliminationist!

Right?

Tim said...

Maybe, in an honest moment of self-reflection, this president admits to himself that, as the least experienced and least qualified man ever nominated and then elected president, he never should have run, or at least waited until he learned something, a term or three, in the Senate.

Hopefully, so too do enough Obama voters, especially in Ohio.

It's never a good idea to use the presidency of the United States to test a social engineering experiment.

Maybe we've learned something from all this?

I sure hope so.

Eee, you know how it is with these 'A' Cards."

Shouting Thomas said...

You friggin' fascist fucks!

Don't you realize we've got to re-elect Obama because The Children of the Future demand it!

And, if you don't vote for Obama, you're a racist!

Original Mike said...

We? He asked for the job, for Christ sake.

I was more interested in the nonanswers and body language of the two Democratic Senators over the question: "Were the drones over Benghazi armed?" Their squirming said it all.

edutcher said...

The same could be said of Ronald Reagan (not to mention a foreign policy mess).

I don't recall his complaining.

"Strapped him into an airplane?" Ah, yes, just like Seamus strapped to the roof of Mitt's car...

Obama didn't want to be president at all, but WE dragged him into that airplane and strapped him in. He wasn't the pilot, any more than Seamus drove Romney's car. No, the President of the United States is completely powerless to control or steer events. He's just along for the ride like the rest of us.

Now there's an inspiring vision.

Forward!

Observation: He's such a cute little babe, it's never his fault, we made him do it, we made such incredible demands on him, it's Bush's fault, its's Kerry's fault for his comatose debate, it's Hillary's fault for Benghazi, it's the Teleprompter's fault for his babbling, four more years for the cute little innocent babe!

Agreed. So let's not make that mistake again.

Yep. That's a winning campaign slogan. "They strapped me into a plane headed into the ground..."

Democrats have got to be losing to come up with this sad material.

Obama is a textbook example of how not to be a leader.

We are voting on assisted suicide and more marijuana use-you can already have a decent amount here now without being illegal but we want more.

The Democrats are in a binder.

An active Obama = incompetent.

A passive Obama = incompetent + weak

You can see why they'd rather talk about birth control.

bagoh20 said...

If you care about Obama, you have to vote him out of this terrible predicament. Only a racist would leave him in office to endure such a thing.

George W. had an almost as bad situation to step into when the Clintons' dotcom bubble burst, but I don't remember him complaining so about it.

Big Mike said...

We strapped the President into an airplane heading to the ground at Mach speed...

And instead of pulling back on the control yoke he pushed the throttle forward.

Shouting Thomas said...

Titus,

Do they have the marijuana dispensaries in MA?

Synova said...

Isn't it more like the President demanded to be strapped to a plane heading toward the ground at Mach speed?

It's not as though the man was drafted for the job against his will.

kcom said...

We didn't strap him in. He jumped in because in his mind I'm sure he was thinking he was a better pilot than the pilot, a more accomplished navigator than the navigator, a more skilled mechanic than the mechanic, etc. The fact that he'd never had flying lessons or showed his skill in a smaller aircraft was irrelevant.

JAL said...

per Astro - and Obama had the hOuse and the Senate his first two years.

And there was no budget. There is no budget.

Man! That's the way to pull out of a dive!

What a bunch a whiners.

A LOT of the problems in the economy was the government's meddling in the market, especially the housing market.

And, Barack Obama WAS part of the problem. Remember, he was one of the lawyers suing banks to force more loans to lower income minorities. Part of his 'redistribution' schemes even back then.

gk1 said...

Boo-fucking-hoo, obama signed up for the job and as it turns out he is totally lacking in flying skills. Don't these democrats understand you don't get a gold star just for showing up in this world?

Milwaukee said...

If 0bama is re-elected, upon whom will the blame be placed for the mess inherited? Doesn't the whole "It's Bush's fault." excuse expire at the end of the first term?

Imagine the situation Mitt will find himself in after 4 years with no course correction and Obama's foot on the accelerator. And yet, I don't get a picture of a dummy strapped to a bomb when I think of Romney.

In my recollection, 1980 was as bad and worse in some ways than 2008. By 1984 things were good enough for a 49 to 1 landslide. So don't blame Bush. Democrat policies just don't work.

It strikes me that BHO was never very concerned about figuring-out how to land the aircraft.
