"The 9 Most Outraged FCC Complaints About Beyoncé At The Super Bowl."

"Remember when she 'showed her vaginal area' and 'simulated sex for 13 minutes'? These people do, and they are FURIOUS."

Maybe it's high definition television.

Well, she did "hump the air" during her "performance." FLOTUS was proud.

I was outraged by the high school pompom girl act, strung together with PC Go GRRL! nonsense.

The Diversity Department at any university would have be happy to underwrite her silly, hack act.

I never saw it so have nothing to complain about. I do recall that garage mahal was aroused and expressed it here so there there must have been something to it.

Those people should be flogged in the public square while Beyonce gyrates around a pole and spanks herself.
Conservative family values are an outrage! I had to ask the pool boy to leave the room while I read that filth.

Didn't see it. I turn off the TV during halftime.

As I believe it's always important to think the best of people, I'm going to assume that Matthew Perpetua's not his real name, he's not making a whole lot of money, and he hates himself.

How dast they!!!!

Expecting standards of what can be shown in this day and age.

Have they no sense of depravity?

Unknown said...

I'm guessing false outrage is today's theme.

There is no connection between Beyonce's sexually charged dancing in front of a family audience and the the Steubenville OH drunk girl rape video.

None at all.

Let me paraphrase one of the comments: I had to send my 17 and 10 year old sons out of the room.

They have bigger problems than Beyonce dry-humping the air.

KCFleming said...

Parents who try to limit the sexual culture their kids are exposed to are hilarious.

Lets talk about dental damns and fisting and banana-laden condoms in grade schools. We're all liberated here.

I never understood why Beyonce was at the Super Bowl. In my mind, her demographic is 14-year-old girls with too much babysitting money.

KCFleming said...

I dunno, madashell.

Elvis gyrating on TV was shocking, and the story I was taught is that the lame preachers who prophesied cultural doom were stupid ignorant morons, like the guy in Footloose, cuz all we wanna do is dance.

Then we got the 60s, Preezy Choom, and Steubenville.

But it's probably nothing.

I'm outraged that she didnt show her tits.

No, they're trying to avoid them.

No, they're trying to avoid them.

I disagree.

Did you ever meet the Preacher's Kid??

edutcher said...

No, but how many preachers are there these days?

Hammond X. Gritzkofe said...

Gosh. I'm sorry I missed it.

"...showed her vaginal area..." A real full nekid spread-shot on national TV? Might have been worth watching the SuperBowl to see that.

It's so great for lazy pop writers that socons can still be ridiculed w/ impunity.

I wonder if any of those complaints are from Muslims.

I love it when sneering sophisticates mock people who subscribe to culture-saving morality. You guys are so very clever. Next year it's simulated (?) anal intercourse. Neato!

Probably not as the Steubenville rape happened before Beyonce's performance.

Pogo appears to be in the "men gotta rape" camp?

KCFleming said...

In which garage remains thick as a brick.

I was pointing out a shared culture problem, not a propter hoc argument.

Chip S. said...

Another gotcha fail by garage mahal.

Pogo's comment is not about direct causation b/w two things, but about two symptoms of a single factor.

I type slowly.

How many female daytime lifestyle shows try to convince middle age women that pole dancing is healthy exercise?

Many. I just don't watch TV. I feel bad my children do not watch sports and feel out of the loop culturally. But there is too much sport idol worship as is. We rather just play or watch people play basketball or volley ball at the local park.

Volley ball is huge with the Colombian community and they play even in the snow here.

Pogo:
Just last weekend I told my amazed teenage granddaughters about the night in 1957 or so, at a little home and well supervised party, with actual boy-girl slow dancing, when the hot rumor was that the local Niagara Falls and Buffalo radio stations would not play Elvis' new "Jailhouse Rock" record because it mentioned breaking out of jail.

We put the superbowl on time delay so we could fast forward through the stupid half time show. Didn't see it. Didn't miss it.

I especially liked the "wallow in the dregs of carnality" quote. Everyone knows carnality is what the NFL is. Carnality sells!

Sorry, that makes no sense either.

Chip S. said...

Well, not to you, no.

I'll explain this complicated reasoning with an example, garage.

You have trouble understanding visual images and spatial relationships.

You also have poor judgment.

Your poor judgment isn't caused by your trouble w/ spatial reasoning. They're both caused by your early-stage Alzheimer's.

@tradguy,

But wallowing in the dregs of carnality is no where near as exciting as wallowing in the fomes of sin.

(Thank you, tradguy. I haven't gotten to think about the "fomes of sin" for about 35 years now.)

Good grief. The comedian's a bear. said...

"...there's NO REASON whatsoever for pelvic thrust dancing on national television..." [emphasis in original]. Good grief-is this person complaining about Beyoncé or Elvis?

Further proof that someone should base a new religion on Rocky Horror.

That's an outstanding analysis. For you. Have another drink.

What is it today? Beyonce? Ashley?

Who freaking cares?

Public Service Announcement: iPads and iPhones or sundry Android gizmos, are NOT real computers, so don't expect them to act like a good MacBook or PC. Struggling to deal with virtual keyboards...oh, my...get a computer with a keyboard. Cease the silly expectations, enjoy the bliss.

PS: Everyone in my limited family has both iPad and IPhone...except me. I'm retired. No need and no reason to think I just must communicate from the toilet or a bus, what-evah. Yeah, I'm truly a troglodyte...my "travel" devices are: 1.) Motorola flip phone, and 2.) Dell Latitude D410 12" laptop.

Question: What is harder to quit...smoking or texting? :-))

Shouting Thomas said...

You can buy a nice external keyboard/case for your iPad.

I did. Nifty device.

That was Beyonce'?!

I was wondering why Bob Dylan looked so different and danced so well.

Well, that was kind of her point. I watched the Superbowl with family and my grandmother didn't get it. (We had bad sound.) She said what is the point? I said the point is that we get to look at Beyonce, particularly when she sings "Single Ladies."

Seriously, the point of Single Ladies is when she "showcases her vaginal area". She actually didn't do the move very well for the Superbowl. I'm heterosexual and I was waiting for it so I could point it out to my family and say, "Yeah, that's the point, right there." She kind of blew the move. She's also older than in the Single Ladies video and it show.

I heard Biance was singing on television. I tuned in and was horrified to find myself watching the most gratuitous violence as men tried to hurt each other over a ball! It was disgusting.

Popular culture moves on.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4m1EFMoRFvY

Beyonce's "performance" seems to be the female equivalent of the toyi toyi dance that has become so popular among NFL players celebrating a fully expected on-field action that they are being paid handsomely to perform as though it was a cause for praise.

@Joe

Hah. True from this house, anyway.
