At the 7-Christmas-Trees Café...

P1130853

...  Meade will be serving fruit, nuts, and suet.

(Those are the 7 Christmas trees that were the solution to "A Meadhouse Mystery." The snow-covered mound under the trees is what you see in the 4th photo in this post from last November: "Meade mows the semicircular lawn next to the giant collection of leaves that will be next spring's mulch." As noted the previous November, Meade takes in leaves that various neighbors would otherwise put by the curb for the city to collect. This year, he dragged in various Christmas trees that neighbors had left out for collection. There's a mulch plan for the the trees and the leaves, but for now, the trees are providing shelter for some of our avian neighbors... with some added tasty nibbles.)

I would have thought you'd have a 'mulch' tag by now. We fans of decomposing vegetation demand one!

I think I will be more impressed with the handwringing and whining about the Paris "massacre" when they also see fit to mention Boko Haram's real massacre of 2,000+/- old men, women, and children in Nigeria.
As they say, "Black lives matter too."

You're lucky you don't live in a homeowners' association. Ours would send a nasty letter advising you to get rid of the mess or face a lien on your property.

The Paris affair also looks a lot like "suicide by cop."

This has a lot to do with the social conditions in the Muslim enclaves in France; it is not all about religion.

This is also generally so, I think, throughout the "Moslem world." Repressive regimes by elderly clerics and feudal eminences sitting on top of dirt poor populations, half of whom are under 30 years of age.

Eventually I think there are going to be internal bloodbaths in these countries, but the troubles are going to go world-wide.
Consider the French revolution of 1789 resulting in Napoleaon, and the Chinese beginning in 1911, but still not quite settled.

Bacon fat on the evergreens is the traditional bird celebration.

But then you'd have to cook more bacon to have more bacon fat to cook with...Ah, I see what you are doing there.

The kind thing would have been to donate the trees to the zoo for the lions to chew on.

This Mr. Muhammed must have had some really special charisma. His followers can literally MURDER to defend his name and the crime some poeople see is that the murderers had their feelings hurt.

A playground rhyme for the 21st century: "Sticks and stones may break your bones, and if you say that word you are going to find out!"

A very good article on what Egypt president said and the way forward after Paris massacre. I agree that states from Muslim countries should get involved in getting rid of this scourge. But they are corrupt and are using these mfers for their own means and how do they change that?

I think the writings in the Koran must have been assembled during the first fiery expansion period of Islam in the 7th and 8th centuries.
This kind of language would not have been in the interest of the later established caliphates, and there must surely be other writings from the later periods to moderate the original calls to arms.
What has happened to these, and why don't we even hear about them?

I would have thought that Christmas trees were too acidic to use as mulch. What is Meade's opinion on that?

One of the main dogmas of Islam is that you must strive to live your life as closely as possible to the life Muhammad lived. Another is that Mohammed's words are the perfect word of God, and to question them is forbidden.

People have been seeking an Islamic reformation for a thousand years, but it will never, can never happen....Islam explicitly forbids it.

The Koran was written no later than the second caliph. Those who wrote it heard it directly from Muhammad's lips.

Meade is modeling desirable husband, neighbor, and environmental behaviors for us. I appreciate it. I don't think my dad owned even a screwdriver.

I'm wondering about how Mr. Meade's going to mulch things. I've been asking the housemate for some help in dealing with downed Norway branches from the last Noreaster here. Also, my next door neighbor's been getting really annoyed at the rank yew creating a squirrel ladder onto his back porch.

Bought a new sunflower seed feeder, as we apparently have an UR squirrel on hand. Saw him slapping the (ostensible) Alpha Male kitty under the yew a couple mornings ago.

What is the difference between Kacher and Halal? Saw that a Muslim employee at the Hyper Kacher local store (it's a chain) hid the folks and saved them.

That's a triple if not a quadruple.

The religion of the person overseeing the production of the food item. Otherwise, they are pratically identical.

Mulch bulb beds with evergreen boughs to protect the soil from shifting and cracking during the winter. Otherwise plants, especially small, shallowly planted bulbs, can be heaved to the surface.

The Ten Commandments do not have a provision for amendments either, as far as I know.

jaed said...

The Ten Commandments also don't include a provision to "slay the unbelievers wherever you find them".

(The kosher rules are a superset of the halal rules. In other words, if it's kosher it's also halal, although not vice versa. Muslims living in places where there is not a large enough group to support a halal butcher will buy meat at a kosher butcher shop.)
