"Jeb Bush has a Photoshopped photo for an ad which gives him a black left hand and much different looking body. Jeb just can’t get it right!"

Tweeted Donald Trump.

Turns out, the photoshopping was to take out another figure...

... and without that lady there to cast a shadow, Bush's left hand was inexplicably dark:

Heavily edited... to remove two women. It reminds me of the Planned Parenthood expose.

Among his other problems, Jeb has the most punchable face of all the 2016 candidates so far.

Would you mind explaining why the PP expose' was "heavily edited" when the full videos were also published ?

I'm intrigued by Trump's obsession with Bush. Trump IS the front runner but he's acting like the lower tier candidate trying to get attention.

Is he really going to "steal" Bush voters by these attacks? Aren't his more proximate rivals such as Cruz and Walker more strategic targets. I've heard him mock Walker (and Wisconsin) but not Cruz.

Curious.

It's just weird that Jeb Bush hasn't done any sort of publicity shoot for pictures for use in these ads.

Why did his campaign have to pick a shot he took with other people and photoshop it in the first place? Was the candidate not available for a simple picture?

That's... odd.

Easy, because we edit videos for consumption. It's a long video, a lot of which is boring and not particularly interesting. Why does the news edit video? Because they only have a few minutes to highlight a story.

I knew that. My comment was directed at someone who compared the PP video to the Jeb Bush photoshop, implying it was a faked. Lots of that on the New Left these days.

Nah. Objective observation confirms, ¡Jeb! has the most punchable face of all the candidates in this election cycle. (Obama isn't running.)

If you think someone else has the most punchable face, you're welcome to dispute the point with comparative photos. I'm open to persuasion.

Speaking of pictures: The picture of Hillary currently on Drudge will end her hopes of winning the youth vote. And the male vote.

If I were running Trump's campaign I'd put that picture on billboards everywhere with the caption "Thank goodness it's a frontal view!"

Michael K:

Actually, I was constructing a juxtaposition of "Photoshopping" and Planned Parenthood's business of removing unwanted or inconvenient figures (i.e. human lives).

You should know me by now. Any opportunity to expose the abortion [and trafficking] industry to public scrutiny and ridicule. They can play with free associations and so can I, but with an objectively righteous cause.

I suspect that Trump isn't hiring the old pros.
The new guys would be acting as underdogs because they would feel like underdogs. There is an argument for that psychologically - a worried man isn't complacent.
Also I suspect that Trump is concerned about Bush because he is the most heavily backed and best connected with the kingmakers and funders. Make Bush unviable and he has a chance to get them on his side as he would be the new default choice given his polls.

I don't know why you jump straight to "photoshopped."

Clearly, Jeb Bush is not only running for President, he's also addressing the problem of He Who Must Not Be Named by destroying horcruxes. The hand has darkened and withered, so that explains why he was trying to hide it behind the woman in the first pic.

If he should win the nomination, we need to be extra attentive to who he chooses for VP.

Trump is challenging the GOP political consultants that are planning to gut Trump using Bush cash. Trump says they are incompetent. Very incompetent. Totally incompetent.

I voted Jeb's people should have been more careful. Were that was a different world we live in. Trump wins again. Sure it was a petty comment. But the factor that will remain in the memory is that odd black hand.

Use Photoshop with care, kids.

The letter J from Jeb covers up much of the hand and makes it hard to see what was done. But it is obviously not his hand.

In the Drudge main picture today, Hilary seems to be wearing the dress from the Polish propaganda poster by Fangor mentioned on this site August 16. Perhaps she scans Althouse looking for political tips, saw the dress, read that it was hugely popular and shot right out to buy it.

Then the Jeb Bush picture - he read that Harry Potter was popular and so ...

Donald Trump hasn't been drawn in, because he only reads about himself, thinks "what a handsome man" and continues as before.

I'm intrigued by Trump's obsession with Bush. ..Is he really going to "steal" Bush voters by these attacks? ...Curious.

Trump's mostly trying to steal media coverage from Jeb, and diminish contributuions he gets. He does not want people to regard Jeb Bush as a leader in the race.

This then leaves him with nobody even remotely in second place.

Walker is also somewhat higher in the polls, so he attacks Walker, but not Cruz because Cruz is so far behind that any votes he loses would tend to go someone higher up in the polls, while people who shift from Bush or Walker will eother go to Trump or to someone ranking below 10%. Kasich is well behond so he attack Kasich because he doesn't want to help anyone gain or retain critical mass.

Trump wants it to be Trump and the rest of votes split between a bunch of far behind also-rans, with nobody ahead enough of anyone else for people to get behind.

This is based on two assumptions:
1. There is a certain look that is "punchable".
I'll admit I am blythly ignorant on that score.

2. That I have a desire to punch a politician in the face.
I'm glad to admit I have no such desire, regardless of their politics.

I think I realized one big reason Trump is running

TRUMP: You better believe it... I will tell you that our system is broken. I gave to many people. Before this, before two months ago, I was a businessman. I give to everybody. When they call, I give. And you know what? When I need something from them, two years later, three years later, I call them. They are there for me.

He just wants to eliminate the middle man.

Phil 314 said...

To ARM.

No, no such desire.

It is worth pointing out that for all the money he's raised Jeb Bush can't figure out how to hire someone who knows how to use photoshop effectively. Sort of reminds me of a former Secretary of State who, surrounded by the best translators in the US, couldn't find anyone to properly translate "reset" into Russian.

----Why does the news edit video? Because they only have a few minutes to highlight a story.

So the story is true and a large set of data is edited to make it more condensed and understandable. I’m fine with that now watch the (edited) videos.

Funny, my first image from that phrase was the Tour de France with one guy way out ahead of the peloton. Usually doesn't end well for "that guy".

It's not wrong to pay attention to this seemingly trivial thing. If nothing else, Jeb's hired helps are sloppy, unprofessional, incompetent. Why can't they take his photo again? It's very Stalinist(Maoist) to airbrush(Photoshop) a person out of a photo.
