"Pope Francis Blesses a Lesbian, Her Family, and Her Writing For Kids."

It seems.

It is perfectly fine for a Catholic to be gay. It is not OK for a Catholic to have gay sex. The media seems to always confuse the two. Also, it is not surprising that the pope would extend a blessing to a gay Catholic, even if that person did engage in the sin of gay sex. It is OK to bless a sinner. The Church want sinners to repent and seek forgiveness. We ask in our prayers for the forgiveness of our sins. We even ask Mary to pray for us sinners.

The notion that the Catholic Church has ever been hostile toward gays is nonsense.

I've been a Church musician my entire life. Gay priests have always been common, although they are expected to remain celibate.

Fag hags like you used to be cloistered nuns. Many man hating lesbians in the nunneries too.

That was a better place for those two categories of women. Let them out into the general populace and they take over admin jobs and start terrorizing young men on campuses for wanting to stick their dicks in a pussy instead of in another guy's asshole.

Watching secular journalists trying to cover the Catholic church and its teachings = lulz.

The Greenhouse Effect for Popes.

And isn't that ironic? "The Greenhouse Effect" (in its other incarnation) for the global warming Padre?

What Sydney and Jason said. People who don't want to hear, won't.

The Pop Pope is trying for headlines faster than the Donald gets free TV.

I wish him wellin creating his own Reality TV series as we watch. He already has the silly clothes ready and has run a PR claim to be St Francis, the garden statue and bird perch. . All he needs to add is his own product line to sell...oh yeah that is covered in the idols store.

No he has not....

He just thanked her for the book, that's all.

lues.”

Pardi added that the Pope gave her and Fiengo the Apostolic Blessing. Numerous media outlets covered the story by saying that the Pope was offering his support for Pardi and her book.

However, the Vatican says that the letter signed by Msgr. Peter Wells, assessor to the Secretariat of State, is not an indication of papal support.

Thanking people for their “delicate gesture” is part of the formula that is generally used whenever the Pope is offered a gift.

As far as the papal blessing, Father Benedettini clarified that “the blessing is for the person and not for (any) teaching against the Doctrine of the Church on gender ideology.”

He added that the Church’s position on gender ideology “has not changed, as the Holy Father reiterated many times.”

Using the contents of the letter to suggest otherwise, he concluded, “is completely out of place.”

If we have to have a Cllimate Czar Worldwide autocrat, then the The Argentine Jesuit is as good as any to play the role.

But we will need a Vice Pope hidden in North America to serve in case a CO2 cloud falls and wipes out northern Italy in a heat wave. Reality and a Pope are never seen together.

Um, anyone can get an apostolic blessing. You just have to write a letter, and they put you in the queue.

You don't have to be sinless. It's not a declaration of Personal Awesomeness. It's a blessing, not an endorsement.

I think the media gets confused because of the idiom 'He gave her his blessing." Which refers back to Isaac and Jacob in the Bible.

But the pope doesn't have a limited number of blessings, and a blessing means "You are a human person and I am praying for you." Not "Everything you do is great!!!!!!!!!!!!"

The Rainbow Flag has replaced the Confederate Flag as a public symbol of selective exclusion thanks to the wisdom of The Supreme Court and promotion by the The White House. Perhaps that explains the demand to lower the latter. Pro-choice doctrine is infamous for creating moral hazards.

Really, yes, it is hilarious to watch the secular media (especially the ones in culturally-Protestant countries) try to cover the Papacy. The actual differences between Benedict XVI and Francis have been purely stylistic, but all sorts of doctrinal differences have been falsely imputed because they "know" Ratzinger is a "conservative" and that Bergoglio is a "liberal".

I chanced upon this and it seemed pertinent to the post; from Terry Mattingly today at the GetReligion site, where they examine journalists' treatment of religion in the media.

How mind-numbingly stupid are the people at the Daily Beast? Their subhead was something like "Will official teachings change?"

Pope Francis cannot change the church's stance on homosexuality. Or abortion, or ordaining women, or anything else these sickening lefties "pray" for at night.

I already know they are complete and utter idiots, but do they have to keep proving it time after time after time.......?

I don't know if they still do it, but at one time anyone who signed up for it, at the Vatican, could get a Papal blessing, or at least a certificate that said so. I knew someone that had one.

As long as conservative Catholics are still allowed to think less of them then all is good.

It wouldn't surprise me. Didn't Pope Francis bless Nancy Pelosi? And isn't she the most rapidly pro-abortion Representative in the House of Representatives?

Renee said...

Again.... A blessing is NOT an endorsement... Sigh.

And isn't Big Mike technically an abortion?

Is the pope Catholic? Seriously, is he?

Dr.D said...

@ Char Char Binks
No, this pope is not catholic, although he has a job as a Roman Catholic. There is little or no connection between him and the Universal Church.

Actually, he is a Marxist, one bent on the subversion of Christianity and the Church. They are warming his spot in hell as we speak.

Renee said...

@n.n.

Says who?

No one. Except the paranoia of conservative outlets.
