It's nice to see Meade in 841.

Downtown LV is a bit goofy. Worthy of a quick visit though.

I'm Northern California, but I love and respect Las Vegas as an "Only in America" icon. Weird, bizarre, open to all, it's always fun to visit. Thanks for sharing your pics.

Vegas and no hooker photos?

Could you not smell them?

(Anosmia joke)

I am Laslo.

Btw, the crosswalk that Meade is using is sort of like the rainbow ones that Seattle just spent $66,000 on ($6,000 each).

Who knew that gay pride was so popular in Lost Wages.

Thanks for the pics, we always wondered what Vegas looks like in the early daylight hours. No lights flashing on those lusty signs, no crowds strolling past solicitors for young models, and no police sirens. Just an ordinary city that works hard.

BTW, that is not Meade. That is an old man.

The crosswalk is designated Abbey Road, so my brother said "There's Ringo" and made me laugh.

Meade did not go on the trip.

"No Pawn Stars pics ?"

No, but we saw Murray Sawchuck's stage show!

For the record, I'm well aware that that old dude wasn't Meade.

Althouse calls attention to youth (such as Miley), oldies (such as Hilary) and fatties (such as TSA folks), so I like reminding WI's most vortexy that Meadehouse is built of glass.

Yeah, you are so doing family things. I remember how and when you couldn't care less about *other people* doing family things.

rcommal said...

About that whole Vegas thing, which Althouse described as a family thing: Well, if you've been around Althouse for as long as I have, you'd already know about her sibling things.

And, then, for that reason you'd get why she'd never bother with the likes of someone who'd gotten that sort of thing from the start.

The signage in Vegas is the best thing about the place, IMO. There is always an interesting sign to see. Thanks for the pictures.

Ah, you're one of those creepy stalker-like commenters, then.

Beale St in Memphis is better. Especially at night.

You know, there is something a little sad about these gaudy, lighted displays seen in the daytime. I kind of felt the same way on a recent trip to Nashville. Maybe it's the honest light of day, maybe it's the lack of a crowd to which the signs are meant to appeal.

Early morning after a thunderstorm with the sun breaking through the clouds. I would guess 6- 6 30 am No traffic and very little people around.

I did have to laugh at the Meade-in-crosswalk comment because I had a similar thought: There's Meade, ca. 2040!

It was nearly sundown.

All these photos are flat-out cool. I wish I had taken them, but seeing that someone else has taken them is the next best thing.
