"Vice President Joseph Biden, who is spending his time in seclusion, contemplating whether to take on Secretary Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primaries for president, has some new information to consider."

"In head-to-head matchups against the three leading contenders for the Republican nomination, he runs as well or slightly better than she does."

He's in seclusion so he doesn't open his mouth and get dems to change their mind?

Brando said...

I suspect he waited too long and will either have an aborted launch or will opt against running. Hillary's locked in most of the party's activists and campaign staff, and is likely threatening donors already about not giving a cent to Biden. He should have jumped in four months ago.

I hope he runs. We haven't had any new pictures of him getting inappropriately handsy with younger women in a long time.

Oh good. Here comes Obama's Second Shit Decision (the first was that he himself was even REMOTELY qualified to be President), to suck a bunch of air out of the room and make a mockery of our processes.

Joe Fucking Biden. Good lord.

If the DoJ actually does it's job and goes after Hillary!, it'll mean Obama wants her taken out of the election. So, who would fill the void? Would Bernie Sanders surge or would someone else come in? Would Lieawatha Warren enter the race? Would Slow Joe Biden, the poster child for giving high ranking jobs to the deranged give it a go? Or, would someone else enter the race, someone that no one is expecting? Perhaps someone who would be doubly-historic? Someone such as Michelle Obama. It's a thought.

When Obama selected Biden as his running mate, the MSM painted it as an addition of depth to the ticket. I can't remember the specific word from the talking points. Weighty, intellectual heft, wise, worldly, not-to-be-dismissed...there was some word they used a lot in 2008.

Why not? Look who is president. Larry The Cable Guy is just as serious as a would be candidate as Biden or Sanders. Hell, he might be a substantially better candidate than anyone the Democrats are running or who are bandied about running and he is probably no worse and possibly better than most of the Republican candidates.

Run, Joe, Run!

The funny thing is that Hillary! and Joe and Obama and Michelle all agree 100% on the major issues (abortion, gay marriage, ObamaCare, high taxes, soft military, etc, etc.) It would admittedly not be a battle of ideas.

I believe the Clintons have something on Warren, or she would've gotten in a long time ago.

The Dems best candidate to win the 2016 general election? Michelle Obama. Their best chance to win is to regenerate the turnout of the past two presidential elections. Who else could stimulate that turnout?

Four More Years, indeed.

Could this entire Hillary! campaign hinge on how much Obama actually dislikes her (and her hubby)? Yes. Yes, I think it could.

Joe Biden, the "George H. W. Bush" of the Obama administration.

Doesn't he have an out-of-control son?

I agree with Wilbur in that Michelle Obama would be the best Democratic candidate. She has a better resume than Hillary, and she's tall and black and female and pretty.

MayBee said...

Michelle Obama has been keeping a noticeably lower profile the past year or so. My guess is she told Barack she would do what he needed to get him elected and re-elected, and then she was just going to do what she wanted to do.

Even her PR team has quieted down. There's no more required gushing about "her" garden, her arms, her style.

Wow. Biden and Trump as candidates. Wouldn't that be great! Imagine the debates. Imagine all the drinking games for those debates. The feminist nightmare matchup. President Chauncy Gardner.

I'm surprised anyone here is suggesting Michelle Obama might get in the race--like most First Ladies, she does not seem particularly interested in politics except insofar as to help her husband. Most news reports going back to the 2008 election give the impression that she is only doing this stuff for his sake, and doesn't care much for public life.

Biden, though--I'm surprised he didn't jump in much sooner. He's wanted to be president since the '80s and this is his best chance. Why step aside for Hillary, unless the Clintons held something over him?

Am I suggesting they threatened to murder Biden if he jumped into the race? I don't even know anymore!

Tank said...

It's easy to say that Biden should jump in, but it has never worked out well in the past.

Bob Ellison said...

Michelle Obama is also an excellent speaker, unlike Hillary. Her husband is a good singer and a pretty good basketball player. People could support her.

cubanbob said...

If Joe Biden is the go-to guy then the Democrats are pretty much done as far as this election cycle goes. As for Michelle Obama, seriously?

David Begley said...

The day after DOJ indicts Hillary, Biden jumps in. Not to put too fine a point on it.

And based on her nutrition advice and mandates, she shares that distinctly Liberal trait of not just being wrong, but being as wrong as wrong can be. Causing the very thing they claim they mean to prevent.

Joe Biden is a certified maroon who hasn't been right about anything since he arrived in the Imperial City almost 43 years ago. So he'd be a perfect Dem candidate.

The Candidacy of Joe Biden

"He will sign what the leadership puts in front of him to sign."

-- I lost a lot of respect when, after Biden criticized the obviously ageist and defamatory attack on McCain, a weak, mealy mouthed written statement was released where he called back his criticism and joined in making fun of a guy for being unable to lift his arms to type after being tortured in a POW camp. I want to like Biden, but that moment revealed him to be the same as every other politician, which was sad, because that was back when I thought, "Well, even though I don't agree with Obama and Biden, maybe they won't be as bad as all that."

More important than the Biden speculation, are the poll results:

Ohio

Rubio 42-40 over Clinton
Clinton 41-39 over Jeb!

Florida

Rubio 51-39 over Clinton
Jeb! 49-38 over Clinton

Penn

Rubio 47-40 over Clinton
Jeb! 43-40 over Clinton

If Rubio can win these 3 swing states (big if), then all is good.

She has lived a life most people can't imagine for almost 7 years now. She likes the perks of the office. She's at least as big a socialist as Bernie Sanders. The hipsters and socialists would quickly drop their support of Sanders to get behind such as historic candidate. Being both black and female, any criticism of her would automatically be both racist and sexist. She'd be even more immune to impeachment than her husband, so she'd be free to continue his string of executive orders. Who needs Congress? Like one Clinton staffer said back in the 1990s, "Stroke of the pen, law of the land. Cool." The Press would quickly fall in line. She wouldn't even have to move, saving the country a considerable amount of money on moving expenses. Her kids could stay in their fancy private school, too. Michelle 2016!

Is "spending time in seclusion" like house arrest?

mikee said...

Biden has a problem, in that the more in seclusion he stays, the more popular he becomes.

I think the inverse of that is also true, as demonstrated by his previous plargiaristic presidential bid, and his public experience as a Senator and VP. The more one sees & hears of crazy Uncle Joe, the more one wants to see & hear less of him.

Dateline Washington, D.C. September 20, 2016. The Federal Bureau of Investigation has arrested Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Rodham Clinton on charges of mishandling secret documents during her tenure as Secretary of State. President Barack Obama has declared a state of emergency, and has suspended the presidential election until "the Democratic Party can put forward a candidate who can compete in a fair election." Democrat leaders in the House and Senate are demanding a decision from the Supreme Court which would permit Obama to serve a third term in office, which he is seen to have long desired.
