"The protesters, one playing a guitar, loudly chanted 'murder' and 'cows lives matter' while filling the aisle in front of the meat display."

In Madison, last Saturday, the Wisconsin State Journal reports.
"An officer advised them they were not welcome back into the store and could be cited for trespass if they returned"...
They've been there before — "around Thanksgiving, chanting 'Turkey lives matter.'"

Meanwhile, on Friday night:
"There was a man with a smile on his face standing near a burning State Street kiosk Friday night," said police spokesman Joel DeSpain. "A responding officer asked him if he did it and he said 'I did.'"
The man then threw his a lime-green lighter on the ground and — "having confessed" — said he was "taking the Fifth."

I think you're supposed to take the Fifth before you tell them anything.

Taking the fifth, drinking a fifth... whatever.

'cows lives matter'

Down with cultural appropriation.

Green Lives Matter! Stop the heedless slaughter of our green, yellow, red and orange brothers and sisters in the plant kingdom !

His lawyer will argue that he really meant "taking the piss", which is British slang for joking around.

British slang is pretty dumb. This guy seems even dumber.

I'm just guessing, but should not the lede be "White protestors chanting "cow lives matter"...

What, cow lives don't matter?

It could be worse. Just finished Bryan Burrough's Days of Rage chronicling the militant Left in the '70's. At least these retards aren't bombing anything. On the other hand, the thoughtful person reading Burrough's book cannot miss how those mindless, smug, utterly un-self-aware clowns prepared the ground for the current crop.

Here's a place where real lives are being extinguished,

Planned Parenthood, Madison East
3706 Orin Road, Madison, WI 53704

Singers and guitars would be welcome to protest real murder

The mostly-peaceful protester arrested for burning the kiosk looks a bit pasty and disheveled. He needs a cheeseburger.

I guess we now know why we haven't heard from Trumpit lately.

\At least they'll give him meds. They do that, right?

Of course cow lives matter. Where else am I supposed to get my steak?

You know, I don't think they'll ever get around to it. No one despises the White Boomer Left more than me, but at least they still had some of the pride and initiative of their parent's generation. They were misguided, but they were still essentially American in a way their children couldn't comprehend.

In college, I participated in a "Stop the Autumnal Equinox" protest. CLM and TLM are funnier and easier to chant but make as much sense.

People with too much time on their hands.

Once, in my youth, I was engaged in some shenanigans & tomfoolery with friends when we were discovered by an older, respected gentleman. He confronted us and calmly, yet forcefully, asked, "Haven't you got anything better to do?". He maintained his gaze on us as we thought about this. The honest answer, of course, was "No", but we all understood saying so would be disrespectful, and that his asking was rhetorical. We moped off.

Even Morrissey at his most impassioned bovinity. Meat is Murder:

[Verse 1]
Heifer whines could be human cries
Closer comes the screaming knife
This beautiful creature must die
This beautiful creature must die
A death for no reason
And death for no reason is murder
And the flesh you so fancifully fry
Is not succulent, tasty or kind
It's death for no reason
And death for no reason is murder
And the calf that you carve with a smile
Is murder
And the turkey you festively slice
Is murder
Do you know how animals die?

Was Trumpit the one playing the guitar?

It might not be kind ("kind" meat?), but it sure is succulent and tasty.

Disagree. ELF and ALF have a long history of firebombing, sabotage and a host of other terrorist tactics to further their causes.

Madison is pretty large to be an insane asylum, but not nearly sane enough to be a real city.

Chanting "Cow Lives Matter" goes well beyond cultural appropriation into outright racism, to suggest police brutality against black people is a moral issue of the same order as eating meat.

These kids have mental midget compatriots in San Francisco. There are protesters there who urge that people buy their meat in supermarkets "where no animals are harmed".

If you raised both chickens and steers as a kid (which I did) you know danged well where meat comes from. If you fish, you know where that nicely filleted rainbow trout came from. If you were lucky, you caught it and killed it and got it in the frying pan right quick.

I loved it when, in the early days of the internet, a guy got the PETA URL and had People Eating Tasty Animals, as the site.

Somehow they got it away from him which I thought was a shame.

The human-animal equivalence is an interesting article of faith.

That said, proving that equivalence, or constructing that congruence (e.g. pattern matching), is not a necessary condition to treating animals conscientiously.

Oh, BLM = Baby Lives Matter... Human evolution from conception can be established in the scientific logical domain. So, we should probably stop conjuring wicked solutions and taking comfort in the twilight faith.

David-2 said...

This is how you get more meat eaters.

David-2 said...

@Cracker - good callout for Days of Rage. Well worth reading.

PETA URL and had People Eating Tasty Animals

That's one.

There is also PETA = People for the Euthanasia of Throwaway Animals, which was a remarkable but not surprising epiphany considering that their kind also advocate for selective-child and euthanasia of the old and deplorable.

Should be: Bovine Lives Matter, if one really cares about equality, liberation, and animal social justice.

Cow Lives Matter is sexist.

Ralph L said...

No one gives a shit about bulls. Hence bullshit.

Cow paddies are soft and demure, not manure, which is also sexist.

Now that she has her best-seller, I wish Dr. Helen Smith would write the sequel: Bulls on Strike: Why Steers Are Boycotting Feedlots, the Free Range, and Refusing to Git Along, Little Dogies - and Why It Matters

Watching the left go insane is awesome.

All they had to do was keep their heads down and they would get a bump in November like the out of power Party always does.

They decided to do a recruiting drive for the NRA instead.

Idiots.

You must have missed the lecture: "Veganism a Way to Combat Race-Based Violence, Says Columbia Lecturer." About how racial oppression intersects with eating meat. Presumably this is what happens when the arc of intersectionality intersects PETA.
