"J. Edgar Hoover is to be found at the far part of the Cub Room with his aide, Clyde Tolson."

Why do people go to nightclubs?... in The Year that Blog Forgot: 1945.

But there was still war going on, and here's the way the headlines looked this day in 1945.

You go to nightclubs to wear a snappy Tadashi gown with a strappy pair of high heels and a string of pearls.

Or you go to the nightclub in a suit and tie and then go home and put on the dress. Just don't let Frank Costello get a copy of the picture.

I go do a nighclub to see and be seen.

I also like to have drinkies which make me drunkey and happy and horny.

I also have the hope of meeting the man of my dreams (for 15 minutes). And if I don't attain that I goal I am depressed and hate myself.

Other than that it is a blast.

Suicidal Japanese resistance was met by atomic bomb, which changed their minds.

There's nothing like defeating the enemy for settling a disagreement peacefully.

And that's exactly how Mary looked.

The Cub Room, The Cub Room. Where the Elite Meet! Are we the Elite?

Ann, I love the concept of your "Year that Blog Forgot" but so far the main effect is to remind me, every time I try to link to the original article, how completely freaking stupid the New York Times has become.

Do you get the kind with the pretty umbrellas in them?
