"Wear Your Love Like Heaven" has long been one of my favorite songs. In fact, my Metafilter screen name is based on that song.

I put a nice video up on my blog about my lilac bush when it was at its peak...now passed!

Just selected it as my screen saver at a work site (huge monitor on that computer). Wonderful!

OT: I just received the Amazon Kindle!

First impressions, very good.

I judge a gadget by how much I am able to do without reading the instructions (I have never read the instructions of many gadgets I have), and the Kindle is very user-friendly. Newbies, seniors, kids even will love it.

It's also as light as a feather, too. The "book cover" it comes with weighs more, I think!

Whispernet works fine where I am, so I am reading Instapundit right now -- ain't that cool? Only downside is that his photos show up in B&W. I expected it, but Ann's Lilac post reminds me just how much I will miss the colour.

Cheers,
Victoria

OT: Scratch what I said. I can read Althouse on the Kindle!!

Okay, I promise to shut up about it (I'll write a blogpost on my opinion instead), but I just want to share this with youse:

1- It's handy if you're left-handed, since the Prev/Next Page buttons are both located on the left (there's a bigger Next on the right side). I favour my left hand in most things, save writing.

2- The advantages of subscribing to Instapundit and other blogs offered are puzzling since you can surf the 'net. Well, there is one advantage. On your home page, you will see "New" if there's a new blogpost.

$1.99 p/m won't break anyone's bank, and it's nice to support Glenn somehow. I'd subscribe to Althouse and others (Anchoress, Amba, Sissy Willis) if offered too.

3- You have a qwerty keyboard, and can log into your Google account. I tried to post a reply here using the Kindle but it didn't go through, tho'.

4- It's got a silvery sidebar which acts as your mouse/scrollwheel/cursor/Enter. Cute, but seems a little flimsy.

5- The font shape and size are great. Having said that, the kb is goofy.

Reminds me of my father saying that technology discriminates against the elderly and/or male, because all the fonts and keyboards of modern gadgets are tiny. He's 6'4"...

Overall, really nice. AND NOW, back to our regularly scheduled programming! ;)

Cheers,
Victoria

I'm looking at your photo while I'm listening to Thievery Corporations - Resolution. Kinda neat.

I put an imp in your lilacs.

That would make a perfect cover for a new paperback classics edition of Wuthering Heights.

Victoria - interesting that you mention the Kindle - I will be looking at one tomorrow owned by a friend to decide if it is for me or not.

Over good scotch no less.

Dan, should you need any tips come over to my blog and we can chat. I probably will know less than your buddy, but I've been on it since 2:00 PM nonstop.

Good luck!

Cheers,
Victoria

Thank you Victoria, that is a gracious offer. I will take you up on that if I have a question or two after my meetup tomorrow.

Well, it certainly isn't the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn, that Professor Althouse recently fled from .

GLORIOUS!

I have to admit, at first the fisheye lens was meh with me, but I'm starting to really like it, and this is gorgeous!

Well, you can poke me full of holes and call me SongeBob.

I’m not a big fan of this photo. The clouds look like Sauron’s army about to destroy the Shire. I see doom. Where’s the happy, happy happy?

* adjusts color on monitor *

Nope, that didn’t do it.

Oh well, it looks like the cheese stands alone.

Here’s my boo boo face.
