Instead of shouting "You lie," try: "I’m incredulous at that utterly preposterous spewing of fiction."

That is: talk like Tim Gunn.

(Commenting, last night on "Project Runway," about Johnny's story about the spluttering iron ruining the newspaper dress.)

Yes, the task last night was to make something out of newspapers — the L.A. Times to be specific. And you thought the L.A. Times had become useless.

I hadn't made the connection, but there is something about Johnny that reminds me of Obama. Repeating an obvious lie won't make it true, no matter how many times you say it.

As for PR, I've never seen Tim so apoplectic. He didn't even give Johnny a hug. Under the circumstances, I can understand it.

I love tim gunn. I've missed most of this season's PR. I'm going to have to catch it on a marathon sometime. Does lifetime run marathon's as much as Bravo?

This season's PR just isn't as entertaining, other than last night's challenge.

Johnny is a reflection of several generations who have been raised to believe lies become true once you open your mouth and puke them out.

Okay, so "You lie" wasn't technically true. However, "You're dishonestly obfuscating" is a lot harder to say.

Obama's Big Lie methods

Two million tea partyists in a space that could barely hold 100K?

Death panels deciding whether Granny should live or die?

Whose Big Lie methods, again?

FLS ... Obama wants us to believe that Honduras is an illegitimate government that cannot send its President to NYC to attend the UN ceremonies that honor the righteous leaders from Cuba. Venezuela, Lybia, and Iran. That makes Obama a Big Lie practitioner, as do many other things. For example he was exposed for saying he favors a cost neutral Reform of Medical Insurance which was never more than Single Payer budget buster. He was also exposed by saying he favors CO2 reductions to save the planet, when it is no more than a Global Redistribution plan for our money and political power. He was also exposed by saying that he favors a "victory" in Afghanistan when it is no more than a ambush set up he is sending the American Military into. He was also exposed by saying he supports Israel when all of his policies favor Iran. I don't think we can trust that mananymore, do you?

what does this mish-mosh mean?

The UN General Assembly backs Zelaya and condemned the takeover that ousted him. I doubt they invited the coup leader to attend any UN ceremonies.

First, that's not the number anybody has put forth as a best estimate and nowhere near the number most people consider likely. Second, the National Mall holds only 100,000? Really? So all those rallys claiming to hold far more, all of them, are lying?

Death panels deciding whether Granny should live or die?

That was never the explicit claim, as you well know, but yes, the proposed bill includes panels to decide, based on cost, what lives we will attempt to save and what lives we will not.

Whose Big Lie methods, again?

Well, yours, for starters.

FLS...You lie! The United stares Department of State issues visas unless Obama decides to punish you for legally resisting a Marxist Dictatorship scheme. Meanwhile the brutal Theocracy Tyrants from Iran that announce plans to exterminate Israel are always more than welcome.Does not that make you ashamed to be an American?

former law student said...

the National Mall holds only 100,000?

The National Mall was reserved that weekend by the National Council of Negro Women, to hold their Black Family Reunion rally. The teapartyists were limited to the space immediately around the Capitol.

The National Mall will hold a million people, when it is filled from the Capitol to the Washington Monument, as it was for the Promise Keepers Stand in the Gap rally, in 1997.

Can you quote me that section? How much money is Granny's life worth?

No country considers Zelaya's ouster to be legitimate, to my knowledge.

"The UN General Assembly backs Zelaya and condemned the takeover that ousted him. I doubt they invited the coup leader to attend any UN ceremonies."

Yet another reason to shun the laughable disaster that is the UN.

And Obama feels that standing on principle for freedom is above his paygrade and has been deferring to the judgment of others to keep himself off the hook. Zelaya was doing something illegal and trying to do something unconstitutional. This is NOT a difficult question. It is not nuanced or confusing or morally ambiguous.

And our Constitutional Law professor of a President is having trouble with it?

Also, perhaps I missed it, but did you ever think of any examples of a free democratic nation that had a President-for-life?

I'm ashamed that my country is now supporting wanna-be dictators.

(And don't think that no one noticed the PROFOUND silence from the "human and civil rights" people when Chavez was closing radio stations. Don't even *pretend* that this is about the right of people to vote or have a free democratic process.)

It's too bad that there isn't some large, influential, powerful Nation willing to stand against the disapproval of the world to defend freedom, the rule of law, and efforts to resist Marxist take-overs.

Darn!

You mean, aside from Honduras itself, whose Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches of government (along with the military) all considered the removal of that would-be dictator to be legitimate and in accord with their own constitution.

Putin must be laughing his head off tonight. In the late 1950s Kruschev visited the USA for two weeks, got refused a trip to Disneyworld, and spoke at the UN promising to Bury the USA. No one retreated. The joke was that "Kruschev was offering eternal Russian friendship in exchange for the Eastern half of the United States". We once thought that was hilarious. I don't know anymore. I expect that Obama has already made that proposal to Putin himself by now.

traditionalguy said...

Let me correct that: Obama has only offered to give up the Eastern half of Europe, and the northern half of South America and all of Central america, and throw in Israel for desert in exchange for eternal Russian friendship, and a Leadership role in any new UN World Governing Panel. You know how Barak loves Panels.

Fifty-five percent of Americans approve of how Obama's handling his duties in the White House, according to the CNN Poll of Polls, which averaged the six national surveys taken since the president addressed a joint session of Congress on September 9. Thirty-nine percent, on average, disapprove.

This means the Obama-hating racist wing nuts here are still part of that vast right wing...MINORITY.

Except, of course, that the protesters didn't stick to that area. That mall that was supposed to be filled by the Black Family Reunion Rally sure had a lot of white faces in it, didn't it?

You seem to be trying to be obtuse today. The problem is that the bills enable the rationing, not mandate it - that will come when there isn't enough money, and that is a necessary result of further severing supply from demand.

Last time I looked through HR 3200, there were at least a half a dozen panels, councils, etc. involved in such things as "best practices", "efficiency", and the like. As Pogo has pointed out, the medical profession already has a number of them, and they are likely to be of much better quality than the government is likely to provide.

I am willing to listen to your arguments on why there wouldn't be rationing by unelected bureaucrats, or, if you are going to insist, based likely on the normal anecdotal evidence we hear, that rationing already exits, then why there won't be worse rationing than we have today.

But I am going to assume that if you participate here later and don't provide a credible justification for such a position, that you are avoiding addressing the issue by attacking straw men and changing the subject.

Because that is really what it comes down to for many - whether there will be worse rationing under ObamaCare, and whether there will be less recourse when it happens.

Note that you don't address the polls on whether they approve or disapprove of ObamaCare.

Yes, no one is surprised that President Obama still has job approval numbers above 50%. So did Chimpy BusHitler at this point in his first term. Actually, there, we would need to go back to 9/10/01, because my memory is that Bush got a big bump after the attacks on 9/11. Obama had a distinct majority vote for him last November, and even many of those who didn't gave him the benefit of the doubt at first.

Looking at the RCP graph of approve/disapprove of President Obama's job performance, the two lines seem to be coming together fairly quickly. We shall see.
