"Nobody has ever loaned me money. I mean, I was going to die on a few occasions. Johnny Depp gave me CPR on one."

"That’s as close as I ever got. I was watching that movie where he plays Dillinger, and I was like ‘Motherf***er, I never had myself any JD except CPR."

Yeah, Depp's adorable.

"The first film I worked on was Mommie Dearest. I used to measure people nipple to nipple. The first line I heard from Miss Dunaway was: 'Who is that fat girl in my eyeline?' I was terrified."

I don't really know what "I used to measure people nipple to nipple" means but that seems like an amusing thing to say. To do.

Anyway, the speaker is Courtney Love. Here she is reminiscing about her daughter, Kurt Cobain's daughter, Frances:

"[W]hen Frances was about nine, there was an awards ceremony that Michael Stipe, her godfather, was singing at, and Bono was picking up an award. “Frances was holding Stipe’s and Bono’s hands and she goes, ‘You guys are jealous of each other, aren’t you?’ It was the craziest moment. It was so brilliant. Genius. I was so proud of my child at that moment.”

I'll have to look at some of the pictures on Voyeurweb* to see if the nipple-to-nipple measurement makes any sense.

* = not that I need any excuse

The writer mentions of her and Courtney doing the obligatory thing in NYC --"Down at Ground Zero, we admire the hole."

It is sort of a shame that NYC was not in the running for the Olympics in 2018. Mayor For Life Bloomberg could have touted "The Hole" as a big plus.
By then, Courtney Love might even make some money off it, too, by tying "The Hole" to merchandizing rights she has to her defunct rock band - "hole".

Nipple to nipple is just another fancy-schmancy way of measuring speedboating wave size.

Huh, Courtney is in the same age group as the Roman Polanski rapee. So is Johnny Depp.

I don't know. Kind of puts a face on the matter for me

They're not young, but there is a generational CHASM between those age groups.

Would nipple to nipple be the girl version of toe to toe?

I guess it depends on the girl(s.)

I've been high
I've climbed so high
but life sometimes
it washes over me.

washes over me
close my eyes so I can see
make my make-believe believe
in me.

I've Been High

have you seen?
have not, will travel.
have I missed the big reveal?

do my eyes
do my eyes seem empty?
I've forgotten how this feels.

I've been high
I've climbed so high
but life sometimes
it washes over me.

have you been?
have done, will travel.
I fell down on me knees.

was I wrong?
I don't know, don't answer.
I just needed to believe.

I've been high
I've climbed so high
but life sometimes
it washes over me.

so
I dive into a pool so cool and deep that if I sink I
sink
and when I swim I fly so high

what I want
what I really want is
just to live my life on high.

and I know
I know you want the same
I can see it in your eyes.

I've been high
I've climbed so high
but life sometimes
it washes over me.

washes over me
close my eyes so I can see
make my make-believe believe
in me.

People like to rip on Courtney Love, but at least she has enough sense not to kill herself.

Frances has her own Wiki page. She's 17.

How pathetic.

Courtney Love is going to screw up Frances life too. Seriously, Love is a complete and utter mess. She is in and out of ERs (litterly dozens of times for ODs). She should not have custody of this child. But because she is famous, CPS will do nothing.

I take that back, I forgot Frances is 17 (boy does time fly). Hopefully she will not follow mom's footsteps, but with a sweet 16 party with a suicide theme and a costume competition of who looked best dead...I think those cows are already out of the barn.

I hope this does not end badly.

I sincerely hope that there were cowmats in that barn.

I was reading a bio of Jimmy Stewart awhile back.

He actually worked out to make it into the Army Air Force for World War II. He was underweight.

Yes, to get into the military. Not out of it.

He went in as private - no advantages used - and rose to the rank of major. Army Air Corps; later turned into the Air Force.

Goebbels promised that if he was shot down and captured that Stewart would be paraded around in a zoo for all the Germans to see.

One of the bombing missions he led was called "Black Thursday" because we lost something like half of our bombers. He survived but the mission was kept secret because, in part, of all of our losses.

Stewart never told anyone about his role in that mission.

Amazing man. Simply amazing.

CS Lewis called it "men without chests."

Yes.

Stewart was actually more impressive than Gailbraith lets on.

Because he had a pilot's license before the war and was one of the early pilots into the WWII military, he was slated for and could easily have spent the war as an instructor pilot. He pulled some strings and got assigned to a bomber squadron in England at a time when bomber losses were horrific. He did a tour with his squadron, then got transfered to a problem bomb group as operations officer. His position didn't require him to fly, but he did anyway, and furthermore ordered that the missions not be counted; more missions would have caused him to be rotated out of the theater.

He was a pilot in the Schweinfurt raid and ended the war as a Colonel. He later became a USAF general and rode as an observer in a B-52 during a bombing mission in Vietnam.

I can't describe how freaked out I get seeing pictures of Frances Bean. She's a beautiful young woman, but she carries the facial features of both her parents. The thing that gets me is she has those lost-soul, ice blue eyes from Kurt.
