They say it's about airline safety.

But you know that's crap. It's about crap.

Put 'em on ZeroCare for 5 years. That'll take care of them.

They're not big in rural areas.

No handouts, maybe. Or maybe predators.

A bit of overkill?

I say we smuggle them back into Canada after we clip their wing like the do to swans to stop their flying except for very short distances. It sounds so just and humane.

Dealing with crap is a public safety issue, even if the aircraft safety claim is bogus. Particularly, dealing with crap is a public heath issue. Before the dreaded automobile, New York had legions of sanitation workers cleaning up horse crap. The only real difference in the case of geese is that unlike the long since retired horses, they don't perform any useful task. They just leave loads of crap.

If Mayor Bloomberg wasn't such a pantywaist, he'd come out and say, "My fellow New Yorkers, I'm tired of wading through crap on the way to work. I'm sure you are, too. The geese will be exterminated." Seven million people would cheer him on.

That's all the crap you're going to get from me today.

Do the geese never leave New York?

Serious question.

I mean.... We have hundreds of thousands of geese in our area during certain times of the year, but they don't stay year round. They migrate north in the summer and south in the winter. We are inundated with birds in the fall.

Have the New York geese lost their sense of direction or sense of migration? If so, they probably do need to be culled.

If not, then [sob sob sob ala the Brittany video] leave the geese alone you are disrupting their cycle.

The problem with the new york geese is that idiots feed them at local ponds and lakes year round and as a result they never leave. We a have a beautiful small lake and beach near my house on long island where you cant walk the beach without wading through goose poop and you cant swim in the water because of high bacterial levels. Then they block traffic on main roads here where they cross busy streets with their broods. And dont even get me started about the cleaning of cleats and uniforms from soccer and lacrosse games with grass fields covered in shit. Blow them all alway.

We MUST secure our borders from this invasion from the North.

Aren't there American geese that can serve the functions that these geese do? (i.e. paddling peacefully in park ponds, eating bits of bread thrown their way, flying in majestic formations)

What unscrupulous park manager is bring this geese in? Isn't there some program against that!

And then they have baby geese and we're supposed to let these offspring stay in the US.

(And what language is it that they're speaking!)

Underkill is the problem.

Dust Bunny - I believe one reason is because of a plant living on top of the lakes/ponds that keep the water warm in the winter so it doesn't freeze. It was humans that put the plant there, but I'm not sure of the original intent.
And like others said, there's a city full of handouts.

Well, if they do kill the geese, then feed the homeless with them. Am I rite?

You know what crap is in terms of airline safety issues are? Turning off your electronic devices before takeoff and before landing. Stupid. Also, I'd like someone to kill Richard Reid if possible for the bullshit of taking my shoes off IN AN AIRPORT!!! so I can get on a fucking plane.
