Andrew Breitbart took over the Anthony Weiner news conference.

Why didn't I blog about it, when I was standing by to blog Weiner? Because I was watching CNN! CNN did not show Breitbart. There was some talk about it, but I was recording on a DVR and fastforwarding. At one point, they showed Breitbart, who was talking, but they were not including the audio track. The CNN folk were talking amongst themselves. Anyway, here's the Breitbart stuff, via Politico:

Next time there's an unfolding news story that moves me to put on the television, I am not going to CNN.

ADDED: Another thing about the CNN coverage, they kept referring to Weiner as "tearful." On screen, the text said "tearful." What nonsense! The man did not cry. He did a Clinton-at-Ron-Brown's-funeral eye-wipe, but he did not cry.

We saw it on Fox Business, which we regularly watch. Moreso than any other news channel.

I'm vastly amused that you can just show up to a press conference and make it your own. That's awesome.

The really weird thing was that CNN threw to a reporter who spent minutes talking about stuff that happened last week...she didn't seem up to speed on all of Weinergate. Meanwhile Breitbart was holding court on Fox; causing Cavuto to think the Weiner press conference was actually a Breitbart prank.

In other news, Auston Goldsbee resigns after less than a year.

RuyDiaz said...

"Andrew, would you go to the podium?" WCBS reporter Marcia Kramer, who just days earlier was threatened with arrest when she staked out Weiner’s congressional office in Washington, asked.

Whatever you do, don't mess with Marcia Kramer....

The regular Fox News network ran it live also.

For us it was the Florida recount. We were on the ground, directly involved. CNN was deliberately misrepresenting everything. FOX was the only one fairly reporting *both* sides of the issue.

That was the day I picked up my programable remote and deleted CNN.

You know, that's okay. I don't watch TV. I caught the story because Drudge put it up.

It's a great story. About a very cold hotel ballroom. With a crowd gathering to see weiner's press conference. But weiner was late. He was also watching CNN, I guess?

When Politco found Breitbart just standing there. Being "present." 4 O'Clock came. And, what were the reporters supposed to do?

Even better, the first woman up to grab Breitbart with questions, was the very woman that weiner's office help theatened to arrest!

Oh, yeah. I caught that, too. On the Internet.

This whole story is an example of how the Internet works. CNN? Not so much. Ditto for all the sundry media who haven't recovered, yet, from Sarah Palin's CORRECT history lesson.

God works in strange ways.

Syria is about plotzing because it didn't get noticed trying to shove demonstrators they paid a thousand dollars, EACH, to, into the headlines.

Weiner's mother's not Jewish. That's why she named her kid Anthony. And, never told him how God works in strange ways.

Let alone this marriage to a muslim, who is part pakistani. Part Indian. And, raised from the beginning in Saudi Arabia.

The man in the grey underpants? Doesn't begin to cover it!

Which is why the next and greatest threat to our freedom is information. Look for the government to do their best to shut down the internet and the free flow of information.

This is what they fear more than our guns: our ability to communicate and to do so quickly.

He who controls the media and the channels of information has the power. The internet has taken the power from the elite self selected and gave access to the proletariat.

They are afraid and we should be afraid of THEM.

Questions:

Weiner says he will hire a private firm to investigate. What is the name of the firm? Will there be report?

Weiner was texting during the health bill. Will this story be reported? Is it like Clinton during the govt. shutdown?

Weiner says he did not use govt. property. But, the photos show office. Will the ethics probe focus on that?

Weiner says that he will not resign. How long before he does? I say by end of June.

Weiner supports Obama. What will the President say? What will the Sec. of State say? What will Clinton say? What will Schumer say? What will Jon Stewart say?

The Library of Congress is preserving tweets. Will Weiner be remembered in history of Congressional mis-haps?

Will there be a study on politics and social media at the Univ. of Wisc. by a PHD student in women studies or new media? Will there be a case study on Weiner, Lee, and other men behaving badly.

Breitbart had a fulcrum moment. If you have not read his book, "Righteous Indignation"...then you are missing what this moment was really all about. Breitbart is on a mission to dethrone the leftist educational elites that have warped journalism to the point where idolatry of the left and their chosen ones now mascarades as journalism. Breitbart called them out, "ok journalists put your reputations on the line and state one lie I've made, name one, go ahead." And the silence was deafening.

The MSM as it was known died to today at that press conference. His ADD brain was brilliant as he on the spot made all the links he's been trying to bring to America's attention in 10 minutes.

Andrew Breitbart is a magnificent SOB!

Ms Althouse, welcome to the free press. Always choose liberty.

Even before we had the technology of the Internet, you'd be surprised. But you can't dam up the truth.

Meanwhile, Breitbart not only lucked out on this story; getting the "tweet" feed and running with it. He also got the hyenas of the press going into attack mode. Adding viral lift to an unforgettable story.

I mean, how do you forget the "Guy in the Grey Underpants." With certitude, this one lasts and lasts.

Hi Everyone, did I miss anything?

I watched all of this late and found it great political theater.

Weiner is obviously a big fat liar but that is not what I am going to post about.

First his chest. Not bad for a congressman. He needs to work the lower part of his tit though as his upper tit is larger than his lower tit and it really needs to be symmetrical. I recommend decline bench press and mucho flys. He is also obviously flexing in this picture so his chest probably isn't as good as it looks in that picture. But overall not bad.

He obviously shaves or gets waxed. While I do think this is a little odd for a 46 year old straight man it is not odd for a guy that works out. I have gone to many gyms, and believe it or not, I go to straight gyms because I don't want to deal with all the queens, and all the straight guys shave everything-chest, hog, ass, everything. This took me by surprise initially but now I understand it is the lay of the land.

Lastly, on the topic of new media and sending pics-this really isn't unusual. Yes, a congressman doing it is just so stupid but many many people are doing this now and not just the gays.

I don't though because I don't even know how to upload a pic of myself and don't have a facebook or twitter account. And I am married

The behavior itself it really not that strange and I don't see it as someone that has a sexual addiction. But a congressman doing it is just so completely stupid. And because he is married it is really absolutely wrong-unless of course he wasn't a congressperson and his wife and him had an agreement they could do this, and it wasn't sent to a minor.

Interesting day...

While Steve Jobs is on stage showing the best of America, Weiner and Breitbart are on stage showing the worst.

Too bad that the original recipient of the unwanted tweet, Genette Cordova, had to be dragged through the cesspool. It's a shame that Althouse didn't point out that there was no evidence that she was anymore than an innocent bystander when this first came out, even as Althouse demanded Weiner provide evidence of his "hacking" claim. Too bad Althouse didn't speak out against Kos revealing Cordova's identity. Too bad Althouse didn't speak out when commenters here offered the most derogatory and offensive remarks about Cordova. Too bad Althouse didn't speak out against the dirty deceptive tricks that the journo-stalkers employed to get a story from her. Too bad that Althouse labelled her with the dehumanizing Clinton-esque term "that woman", and wondered aloud why anyone could possibly care what the impact of all this was on her.

I guess that in the world of high politics that Althouse and Breitbart and Kos and Weiner inhabit, an innocent 21-year-old community college student is meaningless, and can easily be ignored as collateral damage in the ongoing political war.

Destroying Cordova was an important part of both the liberal and conservative approaches to this situation. She was squeezed from both sides by ruthless, uncaring bastards.

No mention that:

d) that he drove the story while most of the press ignored it (some of the press have been honest enough to admit that the story was something they should have verified instead of going into knee-jerk anti-Breitbart:" )mode)

Dustin said...

I asked Garage Mahal to meet Breitbart's challenge, and name one provable lie, because he kept calling Breitbart "vile" (such a beta term!).

He replied that he hadn't seen the full video of the ACORN scandal (the full audio's been available for eons, not that we tend to see the full video of things like the Couric-Palin interview or To Catch a Predator or really any expose), and then he started calling O'Keefe a felon (which is an attempt to change the subject, not to mention a willful lie about a journalist who was convicted of a minor misdemeanor offense because he had the book thrown at him for seeking the truth about a Senator tampering with her phones).

Anyway, my point is that Garage and many like him pollute thread after thread shouting the Breitbart is a liar, that he's vile, that he's horrible. And when you ask them to name a single lie, they can't. They ask for proof he isn't a liar, and think that's clever sophistry.

What in the hell is wrong with someone like that? Why are they so sure Breitbart is evil, if they don't have any lies in mind?

I think the truth is that they know Breitbart is a journalist, and there are precious few real journalists anymore. Many of the good stories deeply implicate the left as utterly corrupt, and so the left is more scared of real journalism than anything, even war. So they just repeat and repeat the lie that Breitbart cannot be trusted, and just assert, wrongly, that this is shown by some of the very stories they know Breitbart was right about.

Thank God ACORN was exposed, finally, for what it really was. Thank God Sherrod, a high ranking government official, can't confess to being corrupt and racist in her adult dealings, on the government's behalf (via grant) and escape harsh criticism. Thank God a crook like Weiner can't coordinate a massive smear campaign to cover his use of government property to sex young women, and get away with it.

The internet has finally reached its potential.

You don't need to watch CNN. You don't really even need a TV except for entertainment. Like a radio, it's just not a great way to learn about the world.

I see that a number of other commenters have already expressed their dismay that you have only at this very late date determined that CNN is not a reliably straight conduit for news. So let me put it somewhat more directly: what the hell is wrong is with you?

In all seriousness, and based on as fair a determination as I can make it, on the whole, day in day out, Fox News Channel is far more objective on any given story than any other broadcast news, network or cable. The left has used its usual tactic of a constant, drumbeat attack on the fairness and professionalism of Fox News, which is a very effective method of undermining the confidence of persons of conscience to whom truth and honesty are very important (whom I have found in my life most often to have been cultural traditionalists and political conservatives.)

But we've got to rise above the "Conservative Disease" of caring what the Democrats think about us, and go where we can more readily trust what we see and hear.

Which is not CNN.

Gary Rosen said...
