"You cannot change the country unless you are interesting and attract attention."

"And to do that, you have to have a group."

What Nixon told Newt, who proceeded to form the Conservative Opportunity Society.

Gingrich is more Nixonian than he is Reaganite

Is that meant to be complimentary?

Newt like Nixon was a realist rather than an ideologue in getting things done leaning towards the Conservative ideology but not stuck on stupid when political reality arises.

He's got the guns for it.

edutcher, good one!

Carrot Top ain't so hot now, so maybe Barry would pick Louis CK. He's pretty funny. But he'd likely pick a cynical prog killjoy like Lewis Black.

The only change I want for this country is for 'transformative' progressives to dry up and blow away.

The presumptuousness of these people is sickening. And they may succeed if we let them. They are cunning and not afraid to cheat. And they have a collective lip-lock on the muslims, which is a huge mistake.

I will not abide people suggesting we go along with them and their death wish.

So does this mean he'll cheat like Nixon if the need arises and the opportunity presents itself?

With Nixon, I believe his reputation will be largely rehabilitated. Reason is so much of what he did turned out to be the right policy and his changes lasted. And we know now that Presidents before and Presidents after did far worse, from an ethics standpoint. We had 3 consequential Presidents after 1960. LBJ, Nixon, and Reagan.

Reagan may drop a little as voodoo economics were a big reason for American fiscal decline, along with dereg of the financial industry, free trade, LBJ's Great Society, all the speculative bubbles, Empire overreach, and pervasive DC "pay to play" corruption.
Clinton will look better as years pass. Dubya, Obama, and Jimmy Carter - worse.
