Let's hope he/she has her mother's hair.

Or not. I don't care.

Best Wishes

You get to wear the crown and play princess. But the price is you live in a gilded cage and function as a baby machine.

Best wishes Kate.

Can someone photoshop a picture of a baby with that iconic big hairdo (which is one of the great hairdos of 2012)?

She chose that life. Her husband was born into it (and apparently accepts the job imposed on him). She presumably understood the terms of the all-encompassing job and accepted it. I'm sure after the Diana fiasco, they made sure to grill her on the details of what she was agreeing to.

Meanwhile, the Queen continues on the throne, with the heirs to the throne stacking up like jets in a holding pattern at O’Hare.

Who's the father?

We decided as long ago as the eighteenth century that the doings of royal persons is not newsworthy unless they're getting up in our business somehow. It's a shame that, all these years later, we even know the names of hereditary ruling families. Their doings are less worth observing than ever.

"The royal baby will be born third in line and in direct succession to the throne."

If I was King, I'd wait until the kid was 10 or so before asserting this. You never know what's going to come out.

Nice to see she's fertile.

And she doesn't seem to be the twit Lady Di was.

John said...

Definitely Ann,

She chose the life. And being older than Diana, is much better suited for it. After the disaster that was Diana, I am sure the Palace spent a little more time with Kate.

I think it's delightful. They seem like level-headed, kind-hearted people. And their child will be gorgeous.

I agree Erika. As much as I would like to dislike them, I really can't. They actually seem to be normal people. People you would like to meet and know. They are the most likable Royals since the Queen Mum.

They seem like great couple, I think William has been very deliberate not to repeat his parent's path.

Whom do you suspect?

Yup. Nix to psychos, said the Queen.

I was surprised to see in the article that Prince Wm is only 30. That bald spot had made me think he was late 30's or so.

What will the name be? If it is a boy, I think they are due for a George. Richard would be good, but all three Richards have died of unnatural causes. The best monarchs in English history were Henry II, Edward III, Elizabeth I, and William IV. Any of those names would work.

Really? In American terms, they seem like the equivalent of ultra-preppies to me. I don't have anything against preppies or "Sloane Rangers", and there's certainly much to admire in their distinctive culture, but "normal" they are not.

I'm just impressed that they have talking palaces.

I believe you mean William III (William of Orange, 1688-1702). William IV, Victoria's uncle, didn't do much and all his children were illegitimate.

so, they finally found a breeder. personally, good for them. too bad for humanity that this horror show will be extended another generation.

Well, our Presidential Palace (the "White House") sometimes talks. And the Ottoman Empire did us one better -- it had a talking gate (the "Sublime Porte").

The rumor is Harry isn't from Charles' loins.

He's much too alpha male.

John said...

Balfegor,

He is a helicopter pilot. No sloane ranger would do that. And yes they are upper class twits, so you have to grade on the curve a bit. But all things considered, they seem reasonably normal.

And Ralph, yes William III. I always get my Williams confused.

Good news. Charles is the only Royal I don't like. His father, Prince Philip, is a bit of a dick as well.

Will and Harry are good guys. They have a lot of their grandmother and mother.

I'm a big history guy and understand all about tradition and constitutional monarchies and all that good shit, but what exactly is the point of these people or any other monarch in the post off-with-their-heads era? I'm sure they are very worthy as human beings but the whole idea of rayalty could only appeal to a stone retard.

The Cracker Emcee Refulgent said...

Or royalty if you can't find any rayalty.

jungatheart said...

Awwwww.

OT, I'm pro-Charles and I think Queen E is a sucky mother for not stepping down. And I like Duchess Camilla, so there!

A retard or a generation who lived through the tyranny of the majority in the form of Cromwell. The glorious revolution is probably the best constitutional republic the world had ever seen to that date.

Oh, they're not even in the same class. Prince Philip is a horrible old man who knows he's a horrible old man and delights in being a horrible old man. Charles is just painfully, irritatingly earnest.

MadisonMan said...

It must be a relief for them, and the whole company. They've done their job, well at least part of it.

I hope she has an easy pregnancy and a healthy child. Everything else is gravy.

I think the headline should read:

Prince Harry Is Going to Be an Uncle!

All that's required is an heir and a spare. After that its nothing more than a richer version of the pampered stay at home housewife.

Finally a cast-iron reason for me as an Englishman for why living in the US is definitely better than living in the UK. Most people here don't care. People in the UK will hear constantly about it. No minute will go by without it being mentioned. Especially if it's a girl and they go on and on and on and on and on about how it MUST BE CALLED DIANA.

Kate and William seem like a nice couple. I hope they have a healthy child. By healthy I mean the newborn doesn't inherit Charles' nitwit douche nozzle gene or Diana's mattress back gene.

If a girl, I'd go with Elizabeth Victoria. She will be Queen after all.

or Victoria Elizabeth.

For a King, I think you have more options. Some combination of William, George, Henry or Charles

classic English Royal names

I think we can rule out Joffrey or Cersei as baby names.
