Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (Book 5)

Somebody is way behind on their reading.

I will never buy anything through the portal again if you post another photo of Vince Lombardi.

Gauze and latex exam gloves --- someone's doing home surgery?

I wonder if the sexy pink patent leather pumps go with that order.

Great book. I also highly recommend "They Marched into Sunlight" by Maraniss. Excellent history of a battle in Vietnam and demonstrations in Madison, WI, going on simultaneously. Well written, well researched and interesting. Surprising in some ways as well.

The Lombardi book is just excellent; so well-written, David Maraniss did an outstanding job.

Heroes. I'm done with that stuff.

Which isn't intended to impeach the book - I'm sure it's fascinating.

I just don't believe in heroes anymore.

How does one do this? I've clicked on your Amazon search and come up with our account. Do you still get credit for the order?

Or copy 1 has worn out.

We should. But if you want to be sure, you can email me, give me the date of your order and the name of the item, and I'll do a quick search and let you know. Thanks.

I miss Lombardi.
I still remember my folks watching TV on New Year's Eve with him and his band playing 'Auld Lang Syne."

heh.

Are you referring to Lombardi? Or Obama. Either way, I agree - best to be heroic than to have heroes. (Even though, I will admit - I sort of consider MadisonMan and Petunia to be local heroes of mine.)

Garage Mahal is keeping you in pancake batter and doggie treats all by himself.

He has to buy a copy of the Lombardi book every month.

You see the pages keep getting stuck together.

"When Pride Still Mattered" is excellent, as is the biography of Roberto Clemente that Maraniss also wrote.

Yes, all of them. "Best to be heroic..." - yes, if I had a guarantee that I could be if the situation called for it. James Dickey said something about going through your entire life and never knowing if you were heroic. I'm content to let the question about my own sense of heroism stand.

I do applaud the heroic actions of others. But I realize that probably all who are capable of being heroic one moment are just as capable of being buffoons or worse the next.

All of us have the gene for both in our DNA I think. The world's "heroes" could never let me down.

MadisonMan said...

That's quite a burden I have to bear, apparently.

To Meade, Althouse, I've deleted the emails. I'll let you know when I order again, which will be soon :)
