"When I said that in September that the enthusiasm level for African-Americans as far as Hillary Clinton's campaign was not there, I was right."

"They were wrong. They didn't want anyone to know they were in panic mode. I want everyone to know I was right. If they don't want to admit they were in panic mode they should admit it now. I said then it wasn't too late. It is too late now."/"There is nothing she can do?"/"Oh, no. It's over now as far as the African-American community is concerned. She had time back then to get into the community and get people out to vote. Now, you know, the numbers are the numbers. There's nothing she can do now. As far as bringing in all of the surrogates, I said then that wasn't going to get the African-American community to the polls. It didn't work. The numbers are the numbers...."

Said Leslie Wimes, the president of the Democratic African-American women's caucus.

Hillary does have optics that say "rich white woman." I can see why she doesn't have the African American vote.

Obama did nothing for the black community for 8 years other than set them up to shift blame from himself onto local law enforcement. Hillary promises more of the same as she courts white millennials and college students.

Anyone who thought Hillary would match Obama's numbers with black voters was delusional. The only question is by how much will she underperform with that group, and will that be enough for her to lose?

And surrogates only go so far--it's like a celebrity trying to sell you a car. You may like that celebrity, but you still have to want the car.

A lot of black people don't self-identify as "African-American".

They don't know what that is, past some political organizations identity. They are not hyphenated anything. They are Americans.

If you would ask a man if he was African dash American, he'd look at you like you were from mars. "You mean like half dash American?"

These hyphenated Americans need to get back on the boat.

Trump Landslide in the making.

1) more new Rep. registrations than Dem.
2) less votes for HRC than in 2012
3) She had to cheat to beat a 75 yr. old socialist.
4) ALL of Rust belt going to Trump
5) Trump got more Primary votes than any Rep. in history
6) 15-20% of Blacks for Trump
7) Rallies for Trump show exponentially more enthusiasm
8) MSM Polls over-sample Dems, under-sample Ind.
9) The Crooked Old Lady will win maybe 8 states (the hopelessly Communist ones)
10) Landslide Trump 60%--30%---10%

She has to dramatize her bond with the black community. The next time she's at an event where the national anthem is played, she should take a knee. Many of her advisors have probably cautioned against it, saying that her inability to get back up after taking a knee would make her look weak and debilitated. Nonsense. That sturdy black home care attendant she travels with could help her to her feet. This would actually further help to dramatize her bond with the black community.

Hillary's appeal is limited to just two parts of the Dem coalition: Feminists who support unlimited abortion rights, and policy wonks who admire Hillary's skills with spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations.

For everyone else, including blacks, Hillary has a set of canned, homogenized, insincere talking-points and that's it.

Real Clear Politics says black turnout is down 8% in early voting. Originally when all this began Hillary had to have Obama level turnout among blacks, youth and women to win according to Conventional Wisdom and she had to have Ohio. Now she doesn't need black turnout or Ohio according to Her Wisdom.

She has a special drink called the Rigger which will be featured throughout America if she wins: 2 oz. bourbon, a glass of any size. Put in whiskey, add water till glass is full, steal the customer's wallet and offer to pay for the drink.

Makes Rand's poor performance doubly depressing, no? He could've made in-roads. Trump tried here and there, but nothing consistent or terribly effective. Hell, the LP could've made in-roads if they didn't nominate a dunce and a RINO.

This must be why Campaign Clinton is having all its Media Channels run funny hit pieces on Trump about his KKK supporters. The delay until now was in finding one who is not a a silly hired actor. They need those insane folks who scare you.

Don't know why your supporters are a problem. As Reagan said about the Log Cabin Republicans when somebody tried to make an issue: "They're endorsing me. I'm not endorsing them". You cannot control who votes for you. Rapists, in states where they might be allowed to regain the vote, will vote overwhelmingly for Hillary.

damikesc said...

I doubt it also, but the wording allows that type of leeway.

Strange article. Seems to be some passive aggression towards HRC in the black community. The same site had another article, also accompanied by video from MSNBC, about how black voters are responding favorably to Trump's message in North Carolina (oh look, that state is trending toward Trump too!) and the quotes are eye-opening:

TRINA [African-American voter]: Well, I think Trump is reaching out all citizens including African-Americans, he's trying to address a problem. It should not be a problem if you address there is something wrong and you got a plan that wants to help people. That's what a president should do for us, reaching out to try to help people and addressing problems that's going on in our country.

SOBOROFF [MSNBC reporter]: Some of the criticisms have been -- because he'll often say: 'what do you have to lose?' speaking directly to African-Americans, what do you think about that criticism?

GLORIA: My word to all black Americans, one thing I would like to say is: Let's not be deceived. Look at the record, look at the promises that have been made over the past from the Democratic party. We are not voting for a party. We are voting for a man who's been standing by all citizens. He loves America. That's what I love about him. We need somebody that loves America. And he also loves all people. All people.

So he reached out, went to Black churches, walked the neighborhoods in Flint and other towns. She relied on a voting bloc that doesn't like her or see anything special in "the first woman" line of BS.

March 2, 2015 - NYT releases an article showing that Hillary used a personal email server in violation of State Department rules

March 2, 2015 - Cheryl Mills writes to John Podesta: "On another matter....and not to sound like Lanny, but we are going to have to dump all those emails so better to do so sooner than later"

March 4, 2015 - Hillary receives subpoena from House Select Committee on Benghazi instructing her to preserve and deliver all emails from her personal servers

March 25, 2015 - Undisclosed PRN Staff Member has a conference call with “President Clinton’s Staff”

March 25 - 31, 2015 – Undisclosed PRN Staff Member has “oh shit” moment and realizes he forgot to wipe Hillary’s email archive from the PRN server back in December, which he promptly does using BleachBit despite later admitting he "was aware of the existence of the preservation request and the fact that it meant he should not disturb Clinton's e-mail data on the PRN server."

June 2016 - FBI discovers that Undisclosed PRN Staff Member forgot to erase 940 emails from the gmail account he created to help with the PRN server upload

Seems everyone took the word "dump" to mean delete, erase, bleachbit. The emails most certainly were deleted and not dumped to the press. You are free to listen to what she says now, but I'm more interested in looking at what she did then.

Well, lots of luck with that. Very few Democrats have much enthusiasm for Clinton (and those few who do would vote for any female candidate), and it may well be that there's even less enthusiasm for Clinton among African-Americans. And, yes, Trump has made some outreach to African-American communities (although the media has provided little coverage of that, and what little they've provided has mostly been hostile).

Nonetheless, those who vote will mostly vote Democratic out of habit: I'd expect any effect would be on turnout, not percentages.

Hillary was never going to get as many black votes as Obama. In the last two presidential elections, black folks knew that they had to get out there and support the black candidate, or they would be seen as (and felt like) a traitor to their race, to all of their forebears who had suffered through slavery, segregation and discrimination. Obama didn't do diddly-squat for most of them beyond giving them warm, fuzzy feelings, and in fact many black people are worse off than they were eight years ago. Hillary won't do any more for them than Obama did, and won't give them warm fuzzies, either. They know that.

Achilles,

I have long suspected that the demographics of the 2008 and 2012 elections were being used to bias the state polls everywhere, but the effect is going to be largest where the African-American population is highest, most notably in Virginia and North Carolina- and remember, Obama lost North Carolina in 2012.

Again, I think Trump's most likely path to victory is through winning all the Romney states, then adding Ohio, Florida, and Virginia, then picking off either/and Iowa, Nevada, and New Hampshire.

The reason for picking Kaine was to firewall Virginia, but it is possible you will see a rerun of the 2014 election (and, by the way, the McAuliffe election in 2013). If I had to pick two states that are significantly underrating Trump's vote totals, it would be Virginia and North Carolina, with Florida not far behind.

I know several black men, attorneys mostly, who have never considered voting for a Republican, who are voting for Trump. It's anti-Hillary; they recognize and dismiss her as the condescending, lying grifter she is. I listen to and chat with them and silently exult.

That "Ah ain't no ways tard, Ah've come too far" speech years ago is not forgotten. It really chafed their britches. As well it should have.

There's a good-sized, hand-painted sign in a yard on NW 12th Avenue when I drive through Liberty City on my way home: "Black vote for Trump. Trump = Jobs".
