At the 15 Minutes Café...

... the suspense is killing me.

By the way... remember to do your Amazon shopping through the Althouse Portal.

At the Unknown Hinson show. Classic character. He rips on guitar and does the voice over for Squid Lips on Adult Swim channel. The story goes is that he was named after his father who was listed on the birth certificate as "Unknown".

Late this afternoon in San Francisco -
Life in this very, very, expensive city.

While waiting for my wife, wandered over to Civic Center - City Hall, Asian Art Museum, Main Library - to do a bit of "street photography".

I was approached by a pair of teenage girls, asking if I required their professional services.

Overheard one scruffy fellow, leaning against a wall, telling another scruffy fellow - "I just got out of jail. Nevada."

In the BART station - yet another gentleman-about-town was being contumacious, while three BART policemen were trying to get the cuffs on him.

I am listening to Bach. Sonatas for violin and harpsichord. Sitting on my porch in 70 degree weather and smoking a rather good cigar. The cigar will be gone shortly but Bach, Bach is forever.

I saw “15:17 to Paris” tonight. Nice to know that there are still young men in this country who, when the chips are down and a mass shooter is pointing his semi-automatic rifle at innocent bystanders, will put their lives at risk to do something brave. Not like Broward County Deputy Sheriffs, that’s damned sure.

One of the men was black, Althouse, so you can stick your white supremacy where the sun don’t shine.

We knew that, in a real cafe with Althouse, you'd want to avoid shorts and sex and feminism. In the last few days, we learned that Germany and heritage/freedom are also no-go zones. What's next--the notion that pocket squares are a useless accessory? that the Belgians' are wrong (or right) to think they have a country? that NBA players aren't real athletes, unlike baseball players? that "we hold these truths" was a dog whistle?

Contumacious. That's the word of the day.

Nothing finer.
