Aw, no one's that mean!

ADDED: Via Drudge, at the L.A. Times, "Fake videos are on the rise. As they become more realistic, seeing shouldn't always be believing."

Trump said it all in 3 words: "Get smart America!"

ADDED: This...

Made me think of this...

He didn't do it. But he thought it was funny to photograph looking like he was about to do it.

Fake caption.

Not fake. 100% literally true.

I saw that yesterday and wouldn't click on it. Glad I did this time, thanks Althouse.

So is that a bunny or a French bulldog?

Literally true is sure one good way to tell a lie.

Wasn't surprised because I can't see Althouse posting animal cruelty. Rabbits can die from sudden frights.

That was clever - and literally true. Given the bunny felt comfortable enough to fall asleep out in the open, I had a suspicion its owner wasn’t cruel - but on the other hand you never know what kind of idiot house guest might have visited...

OK. I'll test the Professor's literally true excuse on my wife as soon she wakes up and has had her coffee. If she refuses to even watch it to the half way point , then I rest my case.

I was seriously worried about the rabbit's ear drums! Whew!

I was thinking the other day about how much the world has changed since I was a kid ( I'm now 50. )

Back then, lucky rabbit's feet were a cheap prize from a carnival game, the sort of thing that everyone had at some point. I cant' imagine the kids today being okay with that.

I wonder what became of the rest of the rabbits...

It makes you care... then really care... then feel relief. The line in the post title is what I actually said out loud.

Meade watched it separately and exclaimed at the same point.

Some people are:

Suspected Florida High School Shooter Nikolas Cruz Had 'History Of Animal Abuse'

Does anyone doubt that he would have gotten a good laugh out of doing that?

In the Franken house of comedy, don't fall asleep or otherwise lose consciousness.

As a boy, I admit, rabbits were hunted. And yes, sometimes they seemed to die from the noise of the shotgun, though, other than being dead, they seemed unharmed.

This sort of reminded me of the emotional arc of reading Crime and Punishment (Don’t denounce me Democrats!) and early on there is a scene of a drunkard in a bar telling his own story and at first you are laughing out loud at the idiotic fool painting himself as a noble gentleman, but the longer he goes on, all the while trying to paint himself as the tragic hero, and then becoming more honest, he paints an image of his affect on his family, his daughter and his wife, and you fall into a kind of empathic despair for the people whose lives he has ruined. I guess it’s a similar emotional arc to the one that Hillary unwittingly used in What Happened.

Franken was using Frat House rules. Fall asleep at a party, and expect to wake up covered in drawings with indelible Sharpies!

This reminds me of a Night Court episode, where the resident liberal Fielding's hands are covered with phosphate powder, and after a full day of comedy, a black light exposes the target of his predatory humor on the breasts and asses of every women in grabbing distance.

I had buttermilk fried rabbit for dinner last night. It was s seriously delicious. I met the rabbit farmer at the restaurant, and I am thinking of adding rabbit to the Easter Dinner menu. I will probably wrap it in bacon and smoke it.

Sure looks like Franken's right hand is where it is not supposed to be.

Netflix has an original movie right now about the founding of National Lampoon. In it they recreate the famous dog/gun cover. It's an entertaining enough story, even though it's told in an odd fashion.

There's a viral contagion effect. This video pretty much guarantees it will be done for real.

So..in the Frankengropen pic, shouldn't he be in similar protective gear as the others?

I would just start the vacuum cleaner myself. Video is cute, but also click bait for outrage fanatics.

You mean this bit?

Fyodor Dostoevsky: Crime and Punishment
PART I
2. CHAPTER II (continued)
"You don't say she gave it to you?" cried one of the new-comers; he shouted the words and went off into a guffaw.

"This very quart was bought with her money," Marmeladov declared, addressing himself exclusively to Raskolnikov. "Thirty copecks she gave me with her own hands, her last, all she had, as I saw. . . . She said nothing, she only looked at me without a word. . . . Not on earth, but up yonder . . . they grieve over men, they weep, but they don't blame them, they don't blame them! But it hurts more, it hurts more when they don't blame! Thirty copecks yes! And maybe she needs them now, eh? What do you think, my dear sir? For now she's got to keep up her appearance. It costs money, that smartness, that special smartness, you know? Do you understand? And there's pomatum, too, you see, she must have things; petticoats, starched ones, shoes, too, real jaunty ones to show off her foot when she has to step over a puddle. Do you understand, sir, do you understand what all that smartness means? And here I, her own father, here I took thirty copecks of that money for a drink! And I am drinking it! And I have already drunk it! Come, who will have pity on a man like me, eh? Are you sorry for me, sir, or not? Tell me, sir, are you sorry or not? He-he-he!"

He would have filled his glass, but there was no drink left. The pot was empty.

"What are you to be pitied for?" shouted the tavern-keeper who was again near them.

Shouts of laughter and even oaths followed. The laughter and the oaths came from those who were listening and also from those who had heard nothing but were simply looking at the figure of the discharged government clerk.

"To be pitied! Why am I to be pitied?" Marmeladov suddenly declaimed, standing up with his arm outstretched, as though he had been only waiting for that question.

"Suspected Florida High School Shooter Nikolas Cruz Had 'History Of Animal Abuse'"

-- Wait. A history of animal abuse. 40 some domestic disturbances. 25 some complaints at school. ... multiple online statements about wanting to be a professional school shooter...

AND THE FBI MISSED EVERY LAST RED FLAG?

Matt Sablan said...

So, the FBI can't figure out the guy who says he wants to be a school shooter is going to shoot kids at a school, but Mueller's team has decided to waste time and energy digging into completely unrelated building deals in the Russia investigation?

How come the thorough, investigative geniuses on Mueller's team aren't ferreting out school shooters instead of nebulous Russian moles?

Trump laundered lots of Russian money through his building deals with Russian Oligarchs and the Russian Mafia. Sixty-five deals involved Trump Tower and Trump Soho was built with Russian-found financing. Then there were Florida properties as well. So google it and read all about our honest President. It is not very hard to figure out why Putin and the Ruskies are off-limits in the White House.

But a great many more rabbits die from encounters with their natural predictors. They are attacked and always killed by cats, dogs, foxes, wolves, and large birds of prey - owls, hawks, falcons, etc.. Even raccoons attack rabbits. Rabbits are high in the reproduction chain but low on the food chain whether in the wild or in my neighborhood.

Hasenpfeffer is an excellent dish when done right!

He- Al Franken - didn't grope the sleeping woman, but he did force his tongue down her throat without her consent. No picture of that, though. So how about you say, "He didn't grope her - in this picture - but did previously." Because he did, and admitted to it, and gave a faux apology for it, and left town amazingly quickly for someone who was guilty ONLY of such behavior. Maybe he was just getting out while the getting was good, before really problematic stories emerged?

Al Franken most certainly DID grope the sleeping woman. He was sitting in the back of a military plane, going for a photo of him getting really close to grabbing her breasts. The chance that he got that close, and never got closer, is just about non-existent.

He picked out the picture he wanted her to see. There were probably a dozen other ones as well, some with his hands on her breasts. He just didn't give her those.

Try getting that close to something, anything, in a moving vehicle, and hold still long enough to get a picture of your hands that close. Not going to happen
