In the email today, all addressing me personally...

From Brad Parscale:
I want to make sure you heard the President’s big news that he is officially running for re-election in 2020.

I am honored and humbled that the President appointed me as his campaign manager.

But let me be clear: there’s only one patriot out there who can help win this race... YOU.

You’re all we’ve got to fight back against the fake news media and the rabid Democrats....

I don’t care how many lying books they write.

I don’t care how many witch hunts they launch....
From Donald Trump:

I will never stop fighting for you. I will never let them silence you. Nothing will distract us from our agenda. Nothing can yank us down into the gutters with the fake news tabloids disguised as the “mainstream media.”

But I need you enlisted in our fight too. Will you go down in the books and renew your Sustaining Membership for the 2018 year?
Not only have I never joined anything that I'd need to "renew." I have never given money to any Republican (and I haven't given money to a Democrat since the 1980s, and, even then, only a handful of times).

From Cory Booker:
In the past year, we have watched Donald Trump and his administration demonstrate an incredible capacity for dividing our country through fearmongering and lies. We have also watched the Republican Party fall right in line behind him.

Republicans from the halls of Congress to the White House have proven they don't have an interest in leading. At this critical moment, it's up to us to elect Democrats who are willing to step up and provide the leadership our nation so desperately needs....

Now is not the time to give up or shut up -- it's time to rise up and speak up in support of our shared values.

We must ensure that our children are safe at school, make sure health care is a right and not a privilege, and offer working Americans a path for upward mobility. We must hold Trump and his party accountable. We must stand up for what's right. We can do all of this and more, but only if we work together....

You should be supporting Cory Booker. He's gay.

What does it mean to be "honored and humbled"? Sounds as meaningless as "thoughts and prayers" to me.

Support Cory Booker, for crying out loud.

Corey Booker! That's the ticket! But then there's Kamala Harris---or maybe Eliabeth Warren. Put the two of them on the ticket and you are guaranteed to have some real Indian there. I don't know whether it's Cherokee or Southeast Asian--but it's Indian in any case.

Ah the fun we will have in 2020--and I wouldn't contribute a red cent to any one of them--nor to Trump for that matter.

Funny how the Democrats are always championing rights for people that require my money.

Ha ha! I got the same emails. The disconnect between political mailing phrasing and my personality along with the personal tone the writers always use amuses me every time. (No one who knew me, even only in passing, would ever send me emails worded like these.)

Got the same email. Ann, give Trump his $35. If for no other reason to mess with Chuck.

Booker indicates that Trump caused all this division. Hmm As my mother used to tell my sister and I "it takes two to tangle".

Ted Cruz’s overly personal and never solicited emails turned me off to him. For you, it’s all grist for the blog.

One thing almost all Americans agree upon is that the country has been divided by lying, fear-mongering politicians.

“The Russians are coming!’ might be a lie, but how can you say it’s fear mongering? Oh, wait.

My husband - very active in GOP politics for 40+ years, received both of the Trump emails.

Me - I'm semi-active" (mainly attending wine tasting fundraisers)and didn't receive either.

I am kinda surprised - ever since hubby and I attended the GOP Nat'l convention, I have received a steady barrage of fund-raising emails from various congressional and senate races around the country.

All of our support will be going to a local Congressional race where the incumbent GOP'er is retiring and will be difficult to keep red this year.

A Massachusetts man was arrested Thursday morning after a letter with white powder was sent to Donald Trump Jr.’s New York City apartment earlier this month. Trump Jr.’s wife, Vanessa, was taken to the hospital in the incident.

Of course it’s Trump’s fault that the “Massachusetts man” was reluctantly forced to resort to violence. After all, his side has been losing politically.

"That's a Dear Moron letter."

I have actually emailed back before to ask if they could move my email address to a list that is sent emails that are less stupid. Nothing changed, so the person didn't want to be bothered or such a list doesn't exist or the person thought this email list was the one to which I was best suited.

Achilles said...

It appears that people are upset that an email tailored for mass distribution isn't personally tailored to the triggers they know will tingle money out of them.

None of us are all that special.

People are good at coming up with reasons not to engage in these political battles. Most people find a reason to slink off when the rubber hits the road.

The mask is off. The democrats wont hold back if they get power again. Their political opponents will be "Mistakenly" thrown in jail just like their corporate partners are "Mistakenly" deplatforming conservative youtube channels and twitter accounts right now.

Perfect example.

"Boo hoo this mass email isn't tailored especially for me and the person who asked for my help didn't word it right so I feel justified in letting democrats win and the Trump staffers are stupid."

Got any history you want to help democrats whitewash/tear down today?

No, people are laughing at the way the wording of the emails assumes the receiver is brainless. Nearly all political emails from both parties are worded like this, but one receives plenty of commercial emails not worded this way.

Why would you make assumptions about whether or not people donate to political organizations?

"Got any history you want to help democrats whitewash/tear down today?"

No. Got any slavers you want to venerate today?

Cory Booker's Wet Dream

Daily Mail Thursday March 1st, 2018

South African president Jacob Zuma has called on lawmakers to help seize white-owned land without compensation - to establish 'pre-colonial' patterns.

But he has been warned that the measure would trigger a racial war in a country historically blighted by racial tensions.

Speaking to parliament, he called for unity between black parties. The controversial move would require a change to the constitution.

Sounds about right. WTF do you want them to say? Explain in words how that is stupid?

I will never stop fighting for you. I will never let them silence you. Nothing will distract us from our agenda. Nothing can yank us down into the gutters with the fake news tabloids disguised as the “mainstream media.”

He is exactly right. The only "stupid" thing he did was ask people for help.

The "conservative" movement is full of people who think their shit doesn't stink. We are up against shitheads that are trying to take our freedom daily and Trump is standing up to the entire corporate media establishment alone. There are all sorts of people who want to bash every move he makes.

It must make you all feel way better.

See this. Althouse never joins any team. Not since she was silly and young in the 1980's.

When you don't fight for anything or try to do anything you can sit on the sidelines and bash the people you do. That makes a person smart.

This whole thread is a bunch of people making themselves feel smart by citing their own apathy. Smart!

I also love how Freeman Hunt reflexively turns to "RACIST!" anytime someone questions the democrats attempt to whitewash their history.

Remembering history and forcing people to acknowledge it is racist. Never forget that.

Freeman Hunt said...

"George Washington"

Oh, we agree on things. Interesting that the actual figures in contention aren't on your list.

Didn't call you a racist.

Glad you have taken up Brad's call to arms and that YOU are willing to be the patriot on which this election depends!

Ann Althouse said...

“See this. Althouse never joins any team. Not since she was silly and young in the 1980's.“

I wasn’t that young and I wasn’t silly. It was just that Russ Feingold personally called me repeatedly and I was being cordial.

The other times were for a personal friend and for somebody related to Feingold.

Basically I have always wanted distance from politics. When I was younger, I had an even stronger sense that politics was beneath me. I thought being political was kind of embarrassing.

Achilles, relax. Unsolicited feedback is gold in CRM and sales. If the message can be improved, in comparison with the best Mad Men, then by all means let PDJT, the GOP, or whoever, go out and find the best people.

If she's already a Sustaining Member, she's already on the side of right and virtue, like a Bond Girl. She didn't say she was quitting, did she? Just it was not the best letter.
